Magic used to do a prize where the winner’s face was put on the regular art on a card in an upcoming set. Not a prize you could sell, but neat. There was also TCG called Spycraft that had a series of tournaments where the winner got to create the art for an exclusive promo that you got the only copies ever printed of that particular promo. I won one of those, but the game was never popular enough where those promos were worth real money.
Does anyone else feel that printing a gold foil legendary violates the spirit of LSS’s cold foil reprint policy? I wish they had just stuck with tokens and heroes for these gold foil cards. Now they can print Legendary cards in every color of the rainbow if they wanted. Outside of sealed product the only cards worth collecting were the cold foils but if they are going to do stuff like this then why bother?

It’s certainly dampened the future value of cold foils. There’s a cap to them, being an unknown percentage of the gold foil cost.
