Fact: in the original JTTW novel. Wukong equal with the Black Bear Guai, it took a Bodhisattva to catch this Black Bear Guai because it was too annoying and took too long without any progress to win. Wukong lost immediately to this Samadi Sandstorm's of Yellow Wind Sage - which could terrified the Three Realms and was confirmed to be the strongest Sandstorm ever. When the Sandstorm came - there wasn't even a fight. Wukong's clone disappeared immediately and then Wukong was blinded, he ran away. Luckily, the other eye gods healed him. Phase two Wukong won because he had the Wind Tamer to ignore the Samadi Wind of the Yellow Wind Sage. Wukong was on par with Yellow Brow until Yellow Brow used the Seed Sack to catch Wukong,Wukong called many gods to assist and finally lost to the Yellow Brow Seed Sack. After many time Wukong running to called other god to help him, Wukong invited master of Yellow Brow - the real Buddha of the future to lure Yellow Brow into a trap and defeat him. One Hundred - Eye Daoist when fight with Wukong and feel he would lose if do not thing else. This Centidenpe use his Magic Eye's - which make a golden light to dizzy and paralyzed Wukong, Wukong can not stand a change with this Centidenpe golden light, he despair run away. With Bodhisattva's Weaver Needle, Wukong can make One Hundred - Eye Daoist blind = ignore his golden light to win. Red Boy is a special case, Wukong really upper hand this child. But by Wukong's of subjectivity and impatience for Red Boy's Samadi Flame - thinking he can counter fire (Wukong can endurange God's Flame before), Wukong chose to jump into this flame to ended fight soon and dont expect it can fire his souls. Wukong really die if Bajie did'nt use magic to save him. When come back and with Bodhisattva trap Red Boy to go away his Samadi Flame, Wukong can catch him. It's very ironic when Wukong can threat Jade Emperor and his Heavenly Army + Heavenly Gods in the past, but when go to the West with his master, Wukong wasn't strong like before and get many defeat. So Wukong use his brain to solve problems - not a pure strenght like before, but maturity - Wukong had something to protect, unlike in the past - wild, lawless and only relied on strength, I called that is one of the most realstic/ wise character developed.
Wukong never threatens the Jade Emperor; the novel does not mention him threatening the emperor or making him scared. In fact, he was stopped by Erlang Shen first and the supreme inspector the second time when he wanted to kill the Emperor. For whatever reason, the Jade Emperor didn't care that he was wrecking in heaven and called the Buddha for help just to showoff that he didn't need to fight himself but was using his prestige to fight Wukong. Mind you in Mythology the Jade Emperor is easily the strongest in the Daoist pantheon behind the 3 pure ones, he just calls in Buddha to show off he doesn't need to fight
Thanks for sharing this. This goes on to show how much thought and love the developers put into the game. Being non-chinese I never knew wukong or his story. I've vaguely heard of victorious fighting buddha before, but didn't think it was wukong. I am decently familiar with parts of Hinduism due to many of my friends being Indian - and Hinduism is very closely tied to Buddism, so a lot of familiar stuff but the story portrayed in the legend of wukong was completely new to me. This made all those lore videos even more facinating and answers like these only allow me to discover more appreciation for the game and lore behind it. However, I did think of wukong being the strongest yaoguai of them all, on par with many gods from how the game portrayed it, as did the other lore videos. But this tones down a bit of his heroism and gives more human-ism to his stories.

@@houbertcanitio2199 this is just my theory, when Wukong was fighting against the celestial court, some powerful Gods in Taoism religion on Heaven didn't even show up like the other two of three Pristine One, The Primeval Lord of Heaven , The Heavenly Lord of Numinous Treasure,... If these Gods showed up, I think Wukong won't stand a chance against them. The reason why Wukong still managed to fight and held himself against the celestial court was because the Celestial court didn't want to fight with all of their powers and eliminate Sun Wukong.
the part about red boy is wrong. Wukong is not afraid of the flame, it’s the smoke that scared him because he was trapped inside that big oven before (I don’t know what it’s called in english lol). Anyway the novel is very clear about this. Wukong literally was just swimming inside the flame to search for red boy, but the smoke scared him and he had to jump into water. Also he didn’t die, more like unconscious because his chi got stuck. The pig didn’t need any magic, he just gave WK a massage.
The camera angles on this were horrible. I wanted to watch the entire video but couldn't last beyond yellowbrow. The content idea is great but honestly it's a pain to watch this as half the time the camera is just panning sideways weirdly missing half the action. If you wanna go viral, a friendly suggestion would be to improve this. One fail proof method is to zoom out and take the camera higher. Good luck to you.
Yaksha King was probably the coolest design I’ve seen in a very long time. The art direction in this game is top notch.
