I remember I would always use the Colts bc that’s my team and I didn’t want to use anyone else, and we were pretty damn good back then. one of my friends would always pick the Falcons and say “All I need is Vick”. and i wanted to prove him wrong bc i knew we had the better team overall. but it didn’t matter. he beat me every single time bc Vick was unstoppable.
you can beat vick with colts, you have to actually know how to pass and colts defense isn't great

Madden 09 for the PS2 was great. It had historic teams, a funny training mode where you went up against sentient tacking dummies, and a mode where you had a budget and had to put together a team that had to beat random teams that got harder as you progressed in stadiums like a giant iceberg, underwater, and hell. Such a classic for me
My favorite game. I play all the time. And it took 16 years but i finally finished 30 seasons of franchise mode. Essentially ending the game.

Most people who played with the falcons back then only had one plan. VICK! Mix of outside blitz, CB blitz from different sides and occasional qb spy and you'd shut them down.

First Madden I ever played, when I was like 6 years old. I would sink hours upon hours into this. I had players from every roster memorized. Heck I had half the starters for like every time memorized. I also created a player (myself, 99 overall as a 6 year old) for every team, even some historic ones because I liked the uniforms (blue and yellow rams)

Madden 2005 is better than 2004 in my opinion but mostly because of franchise mode alone having the newspapers and the Tony Bruno show. I bought it again at a video game store near my apartment. It's so much fun to play.

My favorite was ‘05 because it was my first and have so many great memories on it.
PS2-era Madden games had exactly one stat that meant anything, which was speed for you RB, WR, and (in the case of Vick), your QB. His speed ranking and the ability to just scramble immediately with that kind of quickness completely broke the game. You could easily average 250 passing and 150 yards rushing with this guy on the hardest difficulty. The only thing that could trip you up if you were playing a season was there was a decent chance he would get hurt from taking the hit on 3 out of every 4 plays.
Another reason Falcons was broken this game was the running game. Warrick Dunn with the sweeps and tosses, but the key is to switch to T.J. Duckett and run the Strong I Half Back Blast. Duckett always broke the first or second tackle and was guaranteed yardage.
