Anker Soundcore Life Dot 2 Headphone Review - The 100 Hour Problem... (Microphone Test)

  • The Anker Soundcore Life Dot 2 are a pair of true wireless earphone for just $50 or £40 that have a very impressive battery life of 100 hours. The Life Dot 2's also have some other great specs especially at the budget price point. They also include a microphone which I test out in this video. However, Soundcore has done something that for me is a huge problem with the Life Dot 2 headphones.

    It's interesting to hear how they use the buttons for different controls. The Jaybird Wireless Vistas also have a single button on each headphone, however they can skip a song, go back a song, vol up, vol down and play/pause. I'm surprised they don't have a system where the left earbud's button does one thing and the right does another. Gives a lot more functionality

  • @gohan20

    Battery pack would be fine for my use case as when going out for a walk, I usually have a coat on during the colder months (which is most months in the UK) and in summer, this still wouldn't be an issue if these truly last 8 hrs as that is more than enough for myself and most ppl and they wouldn't need to carry the case around with them all the time, as after going for a walk , jog, run or just nipping to the shops you can just drop them in after getting back home or back to the office. Gym, I usually take a bag for my towel, deodorant and my water bottle and it would fit in there perfectly.
    I think there was a bit too much focus on the size of the battery and I am not saying your opinion isn't relevant and I somewhat agree. I think a 50 hr option would have been good but also keeping the 100 hr so ppl could choose what best suits them. Discussing the battery life of the earbuds themselves is just as important. If you had tested the battery life of the buds yourself, then knowing this would have been very helpful, as we all know, some/most companies like to stretch the truth and it came off as if you were just reading off their product page due to not knowing whether or not you had tested them. That however is not an accusation, just how it came across.
    What I found helpful in figuring out what earbuds I want was where another reviewer tested the ability of the earbuds to make calls with ambient noise, such as talking ppl, being on a bus or train. Just playing those noises from your speakers that are connected to your PC would help ppl know how well it is at cancelling out ambient noise and focusing on your voice.
    Also switching between paired devices, is it able to do this and if so, how easy is it? That would have also been helpful to know.
    Anyway, thanks for the video.

    • @Tekify
      @Tekify  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I found the Life Dot 2's to be more comfortable to wear. For calling I agree the Life Dot 2's sounded better in the video however the life P2's have more noise cancelling features while calling, the design of the P2's also means the mic is closer to your mouth so the call comes through louder. I would say if calling is something you will do alot then the P2's might be the better option, if it's just something they will do now and again the Life Dot 2's are a nicer option. Hopefully this helps

    I own these and with nothing else to compare, I like them. These are my first earbuds with earwings and at first I didn't understand the positioning of the wings. They keep the earbud really secure when you push the tip of the wing so it is under a ridge of your ear. In other words, the tip of the wing needs to be tucked in. Otherwise it will float away farther from the ear and at some point the earbud will eject itself.

    Ok, but the case would fit into ur pocket easily. I don't understand the portability issue. The zolo by anker has 100 hours also, but that case is flatter but wider, and those last well OVER 100 HOURS, and that's why I went ahead and bought the anker soundcore life dot 2 NC and that case is alot smaller than the reg life dot 2 case but at the difference of taking away 65 hours of charging time as the dot 2 NCs are only 35 hours, but they cost 50% more than the regular dot 2s

    • @Tekify
      @Tekify  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For me personally the Life Dot 2 case was annoying in my pocket compared to other headphones. For some people it won't matter and they won't mind the extra bulk. Sure they 'fit' but you can also fit a water bottle in your pocket. How are you finding the dot 2 NC?

      The range is pretty good so listening to music and stuff works brilliantly. I found the mic came through a bit quiet while on calls as the mic as far away from your mouth. It worked well enough once I turned up the mic volume but if calls are a big part of what you are using these for then they aren't great.

      They are rated at IPX5 which is only "water resistant" so a shower would probably too much water. If you have a look at the Life A1 they are almost exactly the same headphones but with a smaller case.
