- Songe Capricorne is a mesmerizing and slightly enigmatic piece, with moods that shift unpredictably. Like much of Dyens' work, it demands both technical mastery and expressive artistry.
Dyens described the piece as "a Capricorn Dream... where bells ring out, arpeggios and harmonics cascade like waterfalls, blending modern sounds with memories of the past."
Given that Songe Capricorne translates to "The Dream of the Capricorn," I imagine the first half as a dreamy exploration of the stars, evoking the stillness and wonder of the night sky. The delicate arpeggios and shimmering harmonics feel like distant constellations twinkling in the vastness of space. As the piece progresses into the second half, the mood shifts dramatically. Here, I interpret the music as a moody, cascading river-unpredictable and flowing, sometimes serene, other times turbulent.
