- I recently learned to make paired-weave baskets - and I thought I'd give it a try using some local materials - leaves from Cordyline australis - Torbay Palm
It wasn't exactly a success, but the process is interesting.
The same material can be used to make lovely strong cord - also demonstrated in this video - แนวปฏิบัติและการใช้ชีวิต
This is a great video! I have millions of these leaves and I'm certainly going to give these techniques a try. Many thanks from NZ
Ure so talented🎉
Hi, looked OK to me, did you carry on and finish the basket? Thanks for sharing. ☺
I didn't finish it - it looks worse in real life than on camera. I'm thinking that if there's a way to make a large amount of the twisted cord, I might actually try making the baskets out of that - the thickness is much more consistent and workable.
It would be better used as mats seeing as they are so tuff , but looks very interesting as cord that's for sure I have a plant growing in my yard that has really tuff leaves once they dry off, might give it a go making cord😹😹😹
maybe a basket made from the cords would look and feel nicer lol
