- The 2022 Challenger Decks are here! Today we'll be upgrading the Mono White Aggro deck! We'll stick to a $30 budget - which is the retail price of the deck - and hopefully get this much closer to the tier 1 deck that is currently dominating the metagame.

Slight correction: Brutal Cathar isn't in the sideboard as I thought. If you wish, you can either add 2 to the sideboard by taking out 2 Imperial Recovery Unit, or add 2 in the place of Reidane mainboard and move Reidane into the sideboard in that Imperial Recover Unit slot.
I don't like the vehicle - it's mean to be played against control decks, because it can generate card advantage and help you fight against removal. But it's a vehicle - so it's difficult to crew when your creatures are constantly being destroyed.
As a newbee i really appreciate this kind of content. Your explanations are very helpful!
Let me say I do love seeing the upgrade suggestions but something I sometimes notice and wonder is "wouldn't it be cheaper just to start from scratch?" instead of starting with the fixed cost of the challenger deck. This is especially true shortly after the decks have been out and you'll often see the total card prices fall to a point where the "value" may not match the retail price for the challenger deck.
Taking a Challenger Deck is certainly a quick starting point but if you're looking at making a bunch of those upgrades anyway the scratch start may be cheaper especially if/when there is little to no financial gain when you get rid of many of the cards that are being replaced. Admittedly, there are sometimes cards that might have enough trade in value to off set the additions (that Goldspan in Gruul for example) but they're exceptions instead of the rule.
That was quick! I saw this about 3 hours after posting and like the second direction over the first. I've already converted it to a Pioneer deck. One Standard card I like with all the exile effects is Stonebinder's Familiar. I traded the Fateful Absences for March of Otherworldly Light for flexibility and the exile over destruction.
Could you send me your deck by chance? Im wondering if I should turn this into a pioneer deck because the person I play with only has a pioneer deck
My wife got mono white aggro and I got Dimir control. Can't wait to see the Dimir upgrades!
Nice! Dimir Control is the next in line. :)
@@AffinityforMTG thanks! Love your vids
Returning to Magic after 15+ years and have a question. Is there any budget friendly way to make this deck even moderately viable in Modern? Not looking to crush anyone just want to enjoy FNM. Thanks!
i mean not realy it looses to almost everything i mean sometimes they can cast a 7 7 on turn 2 and removal with prismatic ending fatal push bolt unholy heat just is very cheap and fast
i dont think itll be fun as ud probally get crushed if any of them are playing meta decks
if u want budget decks for modern mtg goldfish has a section with budget modern decks
Great video! I hope an improvement for the best gruul stompy, let's see what improvements can be added
Yep, Gruul Stompy upgrades coming soon! :)
This videos was such awaited Thanks!
I can't wait for your dimir control and gruul Stompy
Dimir Control is next, and I'll be doing Gruul Stompy right after. So, coming soon! :)
Add 4 Esper Sentinel and some board wipe like "Farewell" and you have an autentic beast
Yes plz do this for dimir control too ❤️
Will do! Dimir Control is the next video, coming soon. :)
I can't find that Brutal Cathar in your decklist. You said it's in the sideboard but I don't think it's even included in the deck originally
Do you plan on re-covering these decks with the new releases? Would be super helpful on any further recommendations with the new releases being dropped
I've thought about it, but haven't found the time.
@@AffinityforMTG Would be great! These were awesome and super helpful to a returning player after 10 years. I think it would useful too for someone somewhere to mention they're actually not bad decks out of the box. Not like the old preconstructed Avacyn decks where they were mostly trash cards
Waiting for Dimir Control! ;)
Same
That's next on the list, coming soon! :)
@@AffinityforMTG Yeah!
Can you do one for gruul stompy
hey quick question. if i buy this deck will i get an arena code so i can use it online???
Unfortunately not! People were asking for Arena codes constantly when these decks were being made but WOTC never added them.
I didn't think the video would be up this quickly
Fortunately since we had the decklists ahead of time I was able to work on these in advance. I just couldn't finalize my decklist until I knew what the card prices would look like. Standard cards change so quickly!
I love your videos, keep going! You said that Brutal Cathar is in the sideboard, but he isn't. Small mistake
Whoops, I think I mistook Cathar Commando for Brutal Cathar when I was working on the decklist. Thanks for pointing that out!
@@AffinityforMTG You're probably not alone and it seems like the Brutal Cathar should have been in the deck somewhere.
I bought this deck and with 40 euros I upgraded it by making a pioneer deck (weenie white). I'm satisfied
hi there.. can you share your decklist to me?.. thanks..
@@carldejuan9936 i try to share the link but i don't know why TH-cam delete my comment... sorry

@@carldejuan9936 Here is a list that uses a lot of similar cards as the Standard deck. A lot of the upgrades I mentioned in this video also apply to the Pioneer deck. :) www.mtgtop8.com/event?e=35113&d=465262&f=PI
@@AffinityforMTG thanks a lot sir..

Hey Affinity, I bought this pre con to play 1v1 with my brother, he bought the 2021 Lotus Field Pioneer Deck to play me with. Are these balanced? Is one stronger than the other or will it be good matches
Technically the pioneer decks are much more powerful than Standard decks, however aggro decks are usually good against combo decks, so it might be a good matchup. I can't say for sure though, as I've never played these 2 decks together.
Woo
Just here for the german people: if you want to rebuild this deck from 0 expect it to cost over 250€ if you want german cards... fcking toxic prices here :d
I dont have any of these cards 🐔🐍🐧
None of the cards you "upgraded" with are as good as Faceless Haven. It allows the deck to survive board wipes and is a late-game wincon. It was banned for a reason. But the fact that you can still play the deck at tournaments and FNMs as long as you make no changes to the list is super cool. Spending money and making changes to the list actually make the deck worse 😉😉
I'm not so sure. The 2-spells-per-turn package has largely been abandoned due to being inconsistent. While it's incredibly powerful some games, many of the cards are bad off the top of the deck. It's possible that Faceless Haven makes up for that, but I personally would rather play the more tempo-oriented deck with Cave of the Frost Dragon, which fills the same role as Faceless Haven, if a little slower.
I always thought the book of exalted deeds was what made it banned in standard as well
@@koolaidman531 Faceless Haven doesn't need anything else. If you play it you win games 🔥
@@AffinityforMTG the deck is already 100 percent tempo oriented - that's how aggro works
