Minorities really began to be seen as full equals in society. The very thought of such things as Jim Crow laws that existed 30 years earlier began to truly disgust the majority of white people. While things were never TRULY equal, there was a very high-level of hope. So much so, the LGBTQ community also began to have a voice that started being heard. Every single type of music in the 1990s has several numbers that were truly great ballads. From Crossroads by Bone Thugs and Harmony to Smells Like Teen Spirit, to November Rain, to Celine Dion's It's All Coming Back to Me and Whitney Houstons I'll Always Love You, I dependence Say by Martina McBride.... Most decades are known by one or two types of music. The 90s has it ALL, no matter your preferred genre.
