I use a fifth wheel pin rod to pull the rear pins. Can do it with being on my knees. Have to do it on your knees to put it back on. Thing I like is only have to get down to the pin level once.
You are the “why” behind my channels existence. I’m hoping to create a resource that lasts for years and continues to help people long after the video is first published. THANK YOU for watching!
I 'hopefully' have a 2019 X-580 being delivered next week. Traded off my Simplicity Broadmoor. Watching and learning from great videos like this, well done Sir!
I just purchased my first tractor ever. A GT225. I need to put mulching blades on so will absolutely try your method. That makes alot more sense than having to jack the mower up etc!
Thanks! That front U bracket is what my Scotts L2048 needs. I didn't even know what it looked like since I have not been able to find a good exploded parts diagram.
I have an X360. with 48" mower. The only way yo get the mowere on an off is to turn the front wheel all the way one direction. That makes the opening under the tracker a couple of inches wider. Even then I have to go in/out at an angle to get around the wheels. The wheel base on the X360 is a little smaller. Nate.
Good stuff !! One minor tip I'd like to share is that if you remove the front loop (front deck support) right after removing the primary deck belt, it will make unhooking those rear lift arms a bit easier ! Give it a try 🙂👨🔧
I actually just put my deck back on yesterday and did the arms first, followed by the loop. You are correct that taking the pressure off of the arms seems to make that part easier. Good tip!
Love these quick, easy to reference videos. I also have an X540, so your videos are always spot on! Thanks from a fellow Minnesotan 👍 PS I'm looking at adding a sleeve hitch to mine and it looks like you already have one. Would love to see a video on the install/functionality!
Hey Jordan. That’s actually the bracket for my power flow bagger attachment. It just helps hold the bag collection system on the back. Where in Minnesota? I thought lawn season was going to be underway after last Thursday and Friday. Haha, wrong!!!
@@suburbanacreage ha no kidding! I thought I was going to have to break out the blower again. I'm down in Inver Grove, also on a suburban acreage! Anyway, hit me up if you want to do a collab video on a sleeve hitch... I'll probably be picking one up soon!
@@jhillmotorsports I’m actually looking into sleeve hitches right now. Shoot me an email suburbanacreage@gmail.com I’m curious to know what you are thinking about getting.
Was losing my patience on my mower at the part you said was the worst part earlier today. Thank you for your video. I’m going to crush it out tomorrow. God bless you!
It can be easier to disconnect the arms if you disconnect the front loop hanger first. Either way, it’s not terribly easy to do. Jostling, rocking, bouncing, etc, do what you have to do to ease up the tension on what you’re trying to disconnect. Come back tomorrow and let me know how it went, you got this.
Thanks for watching! Are you a horse racing fan? I used to live in Louisville Kentucky and the derby was HUGE there. Derby parties, we’d watch it on TV every year, big freaking deal. In Minnesota, not so much.
This was an excellent video. Perfectly explained and demonstrated visually. Thank you. When I reconnected the deck, it doesn't seem properly aligned like before. When I lift it, there is something odd in the front. Maybe I need to realign and level the deck. Should it change that much after removing the deck? Any feedback is appreciated.
In theory it shouldn’t change, but I always check it and usually end up making adjustments. After you get the deck back on, I might take a lap around the yard to make sure everything has bounced and settled into the right position, maybe run the deck up and down a few times, that kinda thing. Then check it and make your adjustments. I have a video for a quick method to check and level your deck if you’re interested: th-cam.com/video/gLLOAofJhVQ/w-d-xo.html
@@suburbanacreage It is attached, and that's why I am a bit concerned. I think the front isn't perfectly in position although it is in place. Hard to explain, but it is clear as soon as I raise the deck. It isn't one smooth lifting process.
How do I get the deck back on? JD is a crazy machine in everything, belts to deck nutz. Now I can't get the darn deck back on. It's like the deck is trying to push through the front tires, it's crazy again. Help...
You forgot a step!! at time 1:45 you should have mentioned to pull the deck raise lower peddle to not only to the lowest release position, but push it further toward the rear of the tractor and lock it down. This error cost me several hours of frustration. FYI Everybody.
Funny you mention that because with my bagger in place I always get on and off from the left, like a car. But I realized what I said when I was editing and that it didn’t really make sense. Decided to leave it in anyway. Good catch!
It is similar. I bought this X380 w/54” deck new in Aug.’22. I do not see a tensioner rod (should have taken a picture) but I took the pressure off the front pulley to remove belt and did everything you said. I HAD to remove the front loop completely. The reason I was removing the deck: I sucked in a length of 3/8” steel cable which wrapped around two blades. Cable removed. All reassembled. A few NH raindrops! Hopefully I’ll roadtest: get a “GO” and can finish mowing if the grass stays dry. Thank you for your guidance.
On the 380 (non power deck) there is a “bolt” that must be turned with a socket wrench. While rotating it and holding it in the turned position the tension is taken off and the belt can be slipped off of the drive spindle.
If you like fast and easy, check out my deck leveling video for a method I bet you haven’t seen before.

Good tip for the X300 people in here, thanks for sharing. It can be a tight fit and any extra space you can get is super helpful.

It went well I took off the cotter pins since I was on uneven ground and couldn’t slip the deck out. Thanks again!

Is a 54” deck on a X380 different?
I’m notseeing the tension rod.
Should be very similar if not exactly the same.

Good problem solving skills Fred, glad it didn’t wreck your spindles. Hopefully you got it shut down quick enough after sucking up the cable.
