A great Q&A as usual - so many diverse topics and sensible advice. I got a laugh from your answer to the squashed hat travel question. When we travelled to Jogjakarta recently we popped our daughters' straw hats (inexpensive ones) into the overhead locker on takeoff, got out of the airport and travelled all the way to the hotel only to realise the girls' hats were still in the overhead lockers! We ended up having quite the adventure trying to replace them in a city where English isn't widely spoken. So, if you are going to put your hat in the overhead locker make sure you remember to retrieve it at the other end!
I believe everything works out career wise if you do what you have a passion for. I loved my undergraduate law degree but hated the legal practice course so I went into property, much to my parents’ disappointment. But now at 41 I’ve done just fine for myself. I’d advise any young person to follow their passion rather than chasing money. If you excel in your field, whatever that is, the rewards will come.
