Thanks Esbjorn. Traska do some nice classy models don't they? This Commuter looks pretty good but I really want to get my hands on a Venturer GMT at some point. If they realeased the GMT in this colour I think it would be spot on, although to be fair, I like the look of all of the current colours too.
Hi Esbjorn. Thanks for the great review. It's a fantastic looking watch and I love the blue dial. I purchased a Summiteer earlier this year (from Traska's site), and I've been exceptionally happy with it. I'm hoping to get a Commuter soon (38mm, ND, Adriatic Blue). I appreciate your video!
Great review Esbjorn, many thanks. I really like Traska watches. I own one, and it is excellent. To me, they deliver great looking watches with robust specs, with outstanding quality, and at a good value. Their customer service is also very good. Thank you for sharing and be well, my friend.
Wonderful review of this never better Commuter. As said elsewhere, if it was just about this design, I probably would have switched off some generations ago. I think the argument that if you're interested in this kind of watch design, 'why go to Rolex?', exerts a stronger call with each generational refinement. I'm sure some simply do it for whatever the 'crown' stands for, but really I think this must almost be the better purchase in all other respects. This colour is gorgeous and it does frustrate me slightly that Traska is not being consistent with their colourways across sizes and generations. The Aegean blue (I think it was the previous generation) was pretty good. This blue is possibly even better. Both, in my opinion, better than the steel blue for the 36mm. And looking at how the 38mm wears on your 19cm, I think for me it would have to be the 36mm I should consider, but all current colourways are less convincing to me in that size. That said, while I'm not averse to plain and simple, even somewhat minimalist, designs, I've also come to appreciate the finer and intricate detailing that draw one in on other watches. What makes me come back and follow Traska is their total commitment to refining an original concept. What they have is strong and has been strong across just about all generations (I'm sure the first generation would now look relatively rough against this). They stick to their guns and this is package is essentially just such an easy sell. They took the concept from an icon and made the best possible version of it at an affordable price. It's very hard to argue with and undoubtedly very easy to enjoy!
Thanks for watching as always! I suspect that the colour issue is relating to an attempt to keep more models in stock but when it comes to your feedback around the constant iteration, I do so very much agree. There is an incredible amount of choice amongst microbrands for those that want something more unusual, but the focus on refinement in this plain and beautiful design, is incredibly present in the new crown mechanism alone which feels like something that would easily fit a watch costing 5-10x the price of this one. I'm glad you enjoyed my point of view on this one.
The 8232 plays the part well, but I have to admit that after getting one of these I’m slightly underwhelmed. And yet the Adriatic blue is the perfect colour. Just enough subtle sunray. But it feels like it resists light, if that makes any sense.
Get what you’re saying, it’s very dark which for someone like me that don’t absolutely love blue dials, is perfect. Maybe more time in the sunshine with it to bring that dark blue out?
In person the dial is almost always black or dark gray. Only when the light hits the dial in certain angles, the blue is slightly visible. Really disappointed.
@ Yeah, for sure in that category, just like the OP which it is clearly referencing. Slightly dressy for me, but if I did more proper business casual, then something like this (or a Maen) would be on my list.
I own 2 of their watches and appreciate them very much. They know how to make a good watch at a reasonable price point. I highly recommend them.
Nice review of a solid watch and brand.

@@NATHANSFLETCHER interesting thought on Venturer in this colour!

@@felo6035 thank you as always 😊
Nice review, very happy now with my green 36mm because this blue is definitely to dark for my taste 😊
The green is gorgeous!

That’s too bad, I like this myself but I can understand. Consider the steel blue model perhaps?
Traska does nice work. Not my style, but just nice pieces.
