    After taking the quizes and trying 2 different cups, I was left feeling frustrated about my cup still not working. I connected the dots when I found out I have a connective tissue disorder. So my internal tissue is too sensitive for a hard cup, but too bendy for a soft cup. So I stick to pads now.

      Try a disc. It sits more in the back and there are fewer nerve endings. You shouldn't feel it at all. Cups never worked for me (bladder pressure,...), the disc is a game changer for me!!!

      How did you find this out?? I haven't tried any cup or disc but really want to try them, I just worry about wasting a bunch of money trying to find the right one and fit etc. I wouldn't mind trying a bunch of different ones and styles but they are kind of pricey for trial and error.

    I’m a first time cup user and i tried the diva #2 which was referred to me by a friend. I had terrible cramps and It leaked all the time! From my research, the cup was most likely going pass my cervix 🤷‍♀️
    At first i thought it was due to my heavy period but the cup was coming out half empty because I could not get it to make a 360' twist. The first day was a real struggle. I blamed it on my medium length artificial nails. I cut them down after trying the nails pinching-cup method. The second day I was a little sore and assumed that it was part of the learning curve that everyone was supposed to experience.
    Just when I thought I had inserted the cup right for the first time the night of day 2, I woke up to a disaster the next morning. I had messed up my bed so badly.
    Usually on my heavier days, I would wear a tampon and an overnight pad but this time it was my cup and the pad. I was so frustrated and a part of me wanted to to call it quit but when I thought of all the benefits of using a cup/discs vs pads/tampons, I hit the internet and read multiple articles; visited YT and watched several videos and read a tons of comments.
    I think I’ve found what would work for my very active lifestyle, strong pelvic floor, very heavy period and low tilted cervix. The Merula one size is where my research lead me to and it’s going to be my next and hopefully last cup. Gas is too expensive nowadays to keep spending money on cups.
    This is the first time I’ve ever been excited to have my period just so I can test out my new cup. Lol.

      Try a disc. Cups never worked for me. Leaked even on my lighter days. Hated the bladder pressure. For me it got painful to always remove and insert it on heavier days so I only used it on my lighter days and still used tampons.
      It all changed with the disc. Found out about it two years ago. Never ever used a tampon since. It changed my life for the better! I wished I had this much much earlier in life!!!
      I'm using the Lumma disc and I'm very happy. But had to cut the string off as it poked me. I still can remove it easily. I now tried the Flex reusable as I heard it might allow a longer time until you need to auto-dump on heavy days due to the thinner basket. Need to find out if this is true, but it's definitely more difficult to insert than the Lumma. It tries to open up while inserting and even sometimes tries to rotate.
      Discs are so much easier to insert (squeezed it's the size of a tampon), no bladder pressure, no suction. Auto-dumping is awesome (keep in mind that this only happens if you have a heavy flow). On my non-heavy days I nearly forget I'm on my period! The reusable disc is one of those things that improved my life the most. Everyone with a period should know about it!

      @@Harlow_Khmer There are videos on Period Nirvana about how to insert a menstrual disc. It's something you figure out quickly. I didn't know about my cervix and cervix height either before using a disc (I always used tampons and tried cups which didn't work for me). Use a pad on the first days when trying out a disc! Just to be safe and to not have to worry.
      If you have a high cervix, try a disposable Flex disc. This way you don't have to buy a reusable disc right away. I have a high cervix and don't need any removal aid such as the loop tab of the Hello disc. When I tried the Lumma disc I even had to cut off the string as it was uncomfortable for me. I could feel it (the disc itself not, only the string). Then I cut it shorter and it poked me. So I cut it off completely. Perfect. Removal aids might not be necessary for you. I simply bear down and the disc moves forward and I can grab it easily to remove it.
      All the best for you!

    So, I pre-ordered a Hello disc. Once it arrives, I'll see how it'll work for me. Because the Diva cup I bought (model 1) was too uncomfortable, and I may have a high cervix. And I don't feel safe using a cup that I won't be able to get out. I feel like a disc, like the one I pre-ordered, would be a bit easy to use. I'm just tired of having to deal with stained underwear and pants during the first days of my periods since the flow is heavy. Really heavy and painful. :/
    Edit: By the way, the Hello disc was my quiz result. :')

    I've been using the Lena Sensitive cup for the past few years. The no suction aspect and ease of removal sold me on the Hello Disc, but I'm trying to figure out how to use it effectively for myself. Is there a trick to inserting it one-handed due to mobility issues? Once I finally get it where it's supposed to be, it seems to be great.....it's just a struggle to get it there. Disc insertion has been very different from cup insertion, in my experience. Am I doing something wrong?

    • @katharina1788
      @katharina1788 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Fold/squeeze it like a figure 8 - like the size of a tampon - and maybe you want to put a bit of lube on it. Like this you should be able to insert the disc easily. The important part is to aim down instead of up. There is tons of instructions on the Flex website. I find their explanations for discs are really helpful (how to insert etc). Period Nirvana has lots of good explanation too. It's a bit of a learning curve at the beginning. Don't give up too quickly! I love my disc. It's a game changer for me! All the best!

    • @katharina1788
      @katharina1788 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mandi, I now tried the Flex reusable disc for the first time and realized I need both hands to insert as it tries to open up while inserting. It sometimes even tries to rotate. Until now I used the Lumma disc (since 2 years) and was able to insert it very easily with only one hand. It is very different due to the material, thicker basket, different rim. It doesn't need the notch like the Flex reusable.
      I never tried the hello disc, but heard that some have issues inserting it (it also tries to open up while inserting).
      So, in case you have issues with the insertion, try the Lumma disc. I only realized that they are so easy to use once I tried the Flex reusable disc.
      I'm very happy with the Lumma. I just have such a heavy flow that I wanted to try the Flex. Someone said the thinner basket allows a longer wear time until one needs to auto-dump.

      @@pinkysistamb Ah, good to know I'm not the only one. But I really found it weird as I don't have this issue with the Lumma. But the flex worked well while inserted. I need more menstrual cycles to see if it is better than the Lumma - if I don't need to auto-dump as often. Last time wasn't as heavy as usual so I can't really compare yet.

    • @katharina1788
      @katharina1788 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Check out Period Nirvana website or TH-cam videos. There is an explanation. You insert your finger and if you can feel your cervix (feels like the tip of your nose) you see how far you had to insert the finger. That tells you if it is low, medium or high. The website has pictures and explains it better. If you can't reach it it's high. But be aware that the position changes so check during your period more than once.
