Dirt bike riding - Vic High Country - Blue Rag Range track - Western Enduro Trail Riders WETR

Blue Rag Range track is one of the best vehicle rig line tracks in the Victorian high country. With the exceptional 360° views from the trig and approach to the trig that will see you traversing a thin ridge line with drops either side, it’s a trail that features in many videos and is very well known. This track is a trail many dirt bike riders and 4x4 groups travel to from around the country to complete.
On a clear day the views are amazing and on a fog drenched day you feel like you are traveling into an abyss with a track in front of you and nothing to either side, its out of this world. No matter how many times you visit, you will keep coming back.
The track is not difficult on a dirt bike but is also not suited to beginner riders. As there is a risk of a bike going off the edge in places by sheer accident, whether it be by a wheel bouncing off a rock incorrectly or just loosing control of the throttle, it’s important to understand your skill level before attempting.
The track has narrow sections bounded by sharp drop offs. The steepest section on the track is the final approach to the trig point and the track sections vary from rocky, mild lose sections and smooth sections and contains minor mud at various points along the way.
One way on a dirt bike the ride will take ~15 minutes in total and will see you reach an elevation of just under 1700 meters. Great lunch spot!

If you are planning to ride out in the high country, do your research first and know your skill level. Also be prepared for sudden weather changes and carry gear with you for what you might need. I have left conditions of 17°c and sunny and ridden to Blue Rag and by time I got there it was -3°c and inside the cloud line. The high country is filled with many tracks that are very steep, very long and in places very slippery. Always understand your skill level before riding out there both for yourself and others.
