It's so you can insert effects after the preamp instead of before it. It's really just that simple. Whether or not delay, modulation etc sounds better before or after the preamp depends partly on who you ask. The main thing my FX loop is used for is a basic 31-band EQ. I often find that very helpful for small tweaks to deal with weird frequencies that are causing problems in the room.
Got 2 amps none has the fxloop, which after I understood the usefulness of it are a bit frustrating, and are now on the hunt for an amp with it! Laney’s latest Foundry line looks interesting.

Why use 2 leads when you can use 4?
