It became unsustainable so I quit and now I’m exploring publishing high content books. Thanks for your video!
I recently had this realization 😩... Definitely shifting over to High content books. Thanks for the clarifications 🤝. As usual, your videos are very educative
Barry: Your analyzes are clear and powerful, thank you very much for providing that crucial insight. For this video I found a simplification that was somewhat exaggerated. In economics there is the term "elasticity of demand" which is simply the response of consumers to different prices; In general, it is easier to sell an $8 dollar book than a $16 one. In conclusion, it is true that selling 166 units is easier than selling 500, but it must be said that the price difference also alters the sales effort of each unit. On the other hand, very good for the reply to Sean, recognizing his work, but placing it in the photo of the advertisement to the video, gives the idea that he is a scammer, in addition to placing his video running behind his back while you explained yours . I don't know, I took the trouble to write these comments because you give us a lot!
I agree with you on 'Elasticity of demand' however I'm assuming that's if you are selling an $8 coloring book vs a $16 dollar coloring book. This assumes you're selling the same product or in this case a different book in the same niche in different price ranges. What I am referring to is selling an $8 coloring book vs a $20 educational book in a different niche. However, I understand your point. By the way I'm glad you found the video valuable enough to write this comment :)
Great video as always. I'll admit it, i started making activity books for kids and adults and i definitely can relate to this video. Time to go Medium to high content now😊
Hired a ghostwriter in 2010 to write an e-commerce book, it was dire. This triggered me into action, to dump my 10 year e-commerce experience on paper. 2 months later after running it through a proofreadee, it was live on CreateSpace, KDP, Apple, etc. 25,000 copies sold when I stopped counting in 2015. I'd personally never faff about with anything other than publishing a high content, high value book. Tip: write for yourself and it will be rock solid.
Completely agree. One of the first books I made, I wrote it myself and I was extremely good at that subject. Even though I wasn't the best writer the book still took off because of the value inside. High content, high value, high profit :)
I think my videos are valuable enough for smart publishers to understand that the content of the videos and the knowledge shared will help them with their KDP business, not the thumbnail :)
I love your videos and style. You're right that low content books aren't easy. However, I think that people who have an eye for design and trends and know how to illustrate etc, can do very well with low content and ads don't have to be that expensive. I started low content in 2018 and when I look at my lifetime sales on KDP since then I've made over 700k with a total ad spend of 80k (a pretty good profit margin if you ask me). I will admit that it was much easier in the early days to make money with journals and notebooks, nowadays a bit more effort needs to be put in but it's still very doable. I think like most things you just really have to have a good product.
@@barrygeorgioukdp Well, if that's the case, Barry, if you think that low/medium content books are not a scam if done right, why did you not mention that very fact in your video?
