    To me this is genuinely one of the most modern contemporary songs this year AND it has good lyrics. This is what happens when you let an artist write their own song instead of hiring people that have been rhyming pain with rain, and fire with higher and desire for the past 20 years. It is amazing to see new artists be able to bring their own artistry and authenticity to the contest. AMAZING entry from Armenia.

The song builds quite nicely for me and I think there is room for lifting it more with staging. It's like the music of Bolero. It has a build up from a slower ballad opening, to the louder, faster 2nd stage of a bop, rapping & a dramatic last stage of the song; to have a culminating ending! That’s what makes this song so gripping, enjoyable & appreciated, for people who can understand the necessary, original construction of the song. :) ps: Well it's all very climatic! HAHA 😅

    Absolutely agree as for what i know of the Eurovision community, this is a contendor. for me? its sounds beautiful but i dunno the mix matching of themes is tough for me. the music video is Bop, but the songs a ballad. the songs about her future lover but the chorus is about her and how beautiful she is? and the rap took me out of the emotions that i felt build up.
    HOWEVER! if this was representing my country i'd be crying tears of joy too lol. Love from Ireland 😅❤

    • @lynetteh824
      @lynetteh824 ปีที่แล้ว

      The song is not strictly a power ballad. Its originality is within the changes & breaks in singing style, music, instrumentals & genre. Hence the 2nd stage is a faster pace bop with rapping, ending again with, a power ballad.
      The chorus is of the lyrics "I decide to be good, do good, look good..," this is like the personal MANTRA for her. So she needs to sing this out, over & over again; in order to will it into the Universe, for her to find her perfect "Future Lover," soul mate & for him/her to materialise. :)

    Hiya Shane! This is my updated & final critical review of the song & I'm not a musician!
    In 6 words, ORIGINAL, ABSTRACT, SURREAL, TRANCE LIKE ILLUSION!
    I wanted to listen to it many times, I had it on replay cz it just goes by so fast. It's catchy in that way, which makes you want to listen to it over & over again, cz it speeds by so fast. It sounds very original & ahead of its time for Eurovision, with abstract chaos, (somewhat avant-garde-ish) to me. There's different BREAKS in the song as well, with the singing, music & instrumentals. Also it's strictly not a power ballad; there's a brief, faster pace of a bop & rapping a bit. I loved the ending in Armenian! It's all very emotional. That's the description I give it & after a lot of listens, I LUV it. There's definitely some kind of a purposeful, originally constructed, disjointed method; chaotic, trance like illusion to the song. It’s just so different. The orchestral, rap & Amenian mixture works really well too! To me, this is like a theatrical masterpiece & the song sounds like a short film soundtrack, it's cinematic & dramatic. Anyway, that's how surreal it makes me feel.. Cheers :)

    It's a good song. The song itself and the vocals reminds me of FKA Twigs in some parts. The rap part is really grabbing the attention. It's just a little bit repetitive and without some big moment at the end. But still very pleasant listen, and it has a lot of chances to qualify, in my opinion.

I'm waiting for the studio version and maybe I'll like it better. But for now it's a B - B+, and sitting in the middle of my rankings. And the vocals sound processed and I would like to hear it live without all the filters on it.

    I would like to see this live to make a full assessment. But based on this, I quite like it. What I like most about the song is the opening verses with the piano accompaniment and her voice. It's stripped-down, poetic, beautiful. I'm not as attached to the chorus that follows. I'm doubtful about the lyrics "I decide to be good, do good, LOOK good"? I can reconcile with that, but the chorus is not that strong in my opinion. And the rap part hits a little too hard on the finely tuned intro. But I like the energy and drama of this part as an individual part. I also like the orchestral accompaniment here and how it increases in power towards the end. It rounds off nicely with the piano. All in all it's a good song that can grow on me. Especially if it can create an artistic mood with the staging. 🙂🌺

    Shane, as a native English speaker, don't you find the lyrics a little bit silly? This song gives me the same feeling I had with "God shut the door" from Vidbir. The song is beautiful but the English lyrics are so strange to me. I kinda wish this song was completely in Armenian.

      Yeah, I’m Armenian and I understand what you mean) that’s why native speakers brand this contest as euro trash when everyone tries to sing in English. Have to agree with you. We should send songs in Armenian. We did it once or twice and we got knocked down tho😂

    • @Mikisomi
      @Mikisomi ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@elnurhussein9025 I would say that it depends. Last year's "Snap" had some solid lyrical content. It's not bad to write songs in a language that's not your own, but I think you have to be very careful about collocations, idioms etc. Also, no need to be so harsh on your entries. Where I'm from, "Qele, qele" is still sometimes played on TV and radio, even though most people don't know what the Armenian words mean. That song is so fun and infectious, regardless of lyrics. 😂

    Երգը հետաքրքիր է. խորհրդավոր գրավչություն կա և երաժշտության, և տեքստի մեջ, իսկ երգչուհին շատ համահունչ է այդ ամենին ❤

    reminds me a bit of "Walking Out", plus a bit of Georgia 2017. I am afraid this will not stand out enough, causing them not qualify.

    It's good but I feel like we have a lot of this mid tempo ballad in this semi
    Cyprus, Greece, Estonia are all in the first half with her.
    I don't know, it's a bit meh

    In relation to this song, its interesting. I was expecting a qami qami type of entry, like an ethnic armenian bop (there was a snippet going around earlier in the week which appears to have been a different song).
    Due to going into the reaction, expecting a bop, I was quite surprised when I discovered it was a ballad. My first impression was therefore a bit clouded by that and I do still think this, the song for me seems to be a more contemporary pop version of the emotion the netherlands entry is conveying this year, it doesnt sound like a deeply emotional ballad like estonia, spain or Italy but rather is almost going for a vibe.
    I think sonically, something about this type of vocal reminds me of Billie Eilish or indeed Victoria, in terms of that whsipery tone with dark undertones, the rap section (which completely caught me by surprise) idk why, reminded me of like Eminem in terms of style, not pace.
    The Armenian lyrics sounds great in the final part. I think I need to be convinced with the live performance because whilst it might move up, I have this as my 15th favourite, which is a little on the low side but tbh i like by top 14-17. I agree, not sure at this moment in time whether the visuals match with the song itself (and I do personally prefer that bluey smoke part to the other visual 😂, it works better imo). I haven't done the audio only test, ill try that out, see if I prefer it 😂.
    I was thinking did I just convinced myself for no reason that this would be a banger but even in the live chat for the premiere, there were Armenians (im assuming because they already saw it on national tv im guessing) who were saying "this is such a banger" before it officially premiered, it was counting down, like its quality but its not a banger, its a ballad, even with the rap section and the building of momentum in the final part.
    also, would Spain's be considered a ballad? if so, thats quality.

    They should do revamp without the rap part and it can do well. Remember that Bulgaria was 11. in 2021 and that was the strongest year ever. I think this song has potentials, but at this point it looks messy with rap part

    I LOVED the opening of this song but ultimately ended up very disappointed overall. I gravitate towards strong, memorable melodies (and don't normally like rap), so this isn't doing a lot for me. It's such a shame because the orchestration is so beautiful. Really wanted to love it - but just don't. Yet.

      I agree, the beginning is wonderful but then it gets confusing for me. It seems that there is a trend of adding different songs into one this year (other examples being Israel, Austria, and Finland).
      Also, I have trouble of hearing the words clearly. I don't know if it is her pronaunciation or singing style or my ears (might be as I had a flu recently) or something else, but I had to turn on the captions to get an idea of what she is singing about..
      But I think it is ok as an average 😅
