"Wait for it to drop" It's Published by Nintendo, how often do those EVER drop in price? Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle dropped to $29.99 NEW at GameStop, yet it's still $54.99 USED. And that game (though it has Mario characters) is neither developed, nor published by Nintendo.
Literally EVERY game Nintendo has Developed and/or Published for the Switch since it was launched has remained at the price it was launched at. BOTW was released Day 1 and is still $60.
Zuckerton yea Nintendo is bad about not doing price drops. I remember the Wii U never really went down in price either the whole time it was on store shelves
Yeah thats true but they do have sales on the eshop which I will admit isnt always ideal when it comes to big games. Botw was on sale at 44 dollars
jeremy roberts It's not really Nintendo, it's more-so the store selling the games believing they don't have to drop the price. GameStop, for example, 100% determines what their used games sell for, yet they still charge Nintendo P&D titles for only $5 less than what they have them set for New. Or, (in the case of M+R KB) $25 MORE for USED.
The developers and publishers don't profit off of used games at all, only the seller does.
Zelda BOTW is worth the $60 price tag in my opinion.
Lauren Chatt GameStop still has Odyssey for $59.99. I saw it on Wal-mart.com for $48.66, but in the Wal-Mart store, it's still $59.99.
Dane Z It is undoubtedly worth it, but so is Horizon Zero Dawn, which came out just a few days before BOTW and is now $20 NEW. Syberia 3 came out over a month later and is $20 NEW.
Nintendo is the only brand I can think of that NEVER has a drop in their 1st Party titles during that particular consoles lifespan. BOTW will be $60 until Nintendo releases their next console, then it'll drop to $40 until Nintendo puts out the console that follows that, then it'll drop to $30. GameStop still has Mario Kart WII for $30.
Tennis is a good sport to play but not watch
It gets tense watching. I enjoy it
I think the main problem with watching it, is it's so freaking long. I love tennis, watching it too. But, I usually watch highlights just because I am not paying for a premium sports channel or whatever. Yet, when I do get a chance to watch a full match I do often find myself getting bored.
Pikapower9 in Aus we get to watch all tennis for free...
All tennis matches? I'm not talking about just grand slams there are tennis tournaments on all the time, mostly you can't watch them for free, I think.

It bothers me how all these TH-camrs are acting like tennis is so boring yet Mario somehow made it fun. Yes, there are some neat animations and pleasing graphics. But, if you like this game you're probably underestimating how much fun real tennis is.
Real Tennis requires practice and being in good physical shape to play half-successfully. So nah, I'm pretty sure that if I went to a real Tennis court right now and played Tennis I wouldn't be having fun.

I like sports games. I tend to buy them more than anything, but my favorites have always been the more arcade likes ones as you mentioned. NFL Blitz was my fav.

I think Mario Tennis is a game with very good and fun mechanics.
That said, I don´t think there is enough content to justify the price.
I was hopeing that there would be a story mode with more substance, more unlockables, a nice story and more modes.
Something like Diddy Kong Racing or the first Mario Party would have been great.
At this point in time the game feels a lot like Arms.
Good for a short time, but not enough to keep me interested.

I haven´t played that one, but I like the RPG-elements in Mario Golf for the GBA. An RPG would be great for the next Mario sports game, but I don´t think that we will get that. A nice story mode with a lot of challenges and a lot of unlockables would be enough to satisfy my needs.

Yeah, playing tennis is really fun. My net game is, or at least was, very strong. The people that would go to tennis practice with me usually just avoided my smashes. Just for the people who don't know, tennis balls go fucking fast and you do not want to get hit with one of those things. Also for people who don't know tennis, or if I'm just using the wrong term here, a smash is kind of like a serve, but done during a rally, usually in response to a lob that is going to land close to the net. You can do them in Mario Tennis Aces by hitting a star shot with a flat hit.

So imagine inflation on top of that.. Games should be costing us more if you consider inflation. Games are costing more and more for the developers to make but they maintain 60 dolars. The good thing is that more and more gamers are coming in so developers dont have that much of a loss..
Vinicius Manchado Nintendo games cost $80 as most come with $20 DLC. The BOTW and Splatoon DLCs are vastly overpriced.
i feel the same way about The World Ends With You on Switch, its an HD mobile one screen formatted version ported to the Switch for $60 of a decade old Nintendo DS game.........

When you have to retry a challenge in adventure mode, just hit + or - to skip the text and get back in the game.

Depends on what type of player you are, if you like multiplayer games go for Tennis. I played Zelda for 4 hours and sold it, cause it's boring for me. I prefer mario tennis than zelda.
I don't know why but when i got this my brother who has a PS4 and plays 2k games judges me and says that i shouldn't have gotten this game and shouldn't got a big 1st party title. He kept saying that those are the only games that i should get and nothing else. When he plays 2k almost everytime he gets on PS4 and there is also nothing but basketball when he said that mario tennis is boring and has nothing to offer. Personally i thing mario tennis is underrated and is a really good game

At 6:00 he basically describes what is great about real tennis. It's funny that sometimes the sports arcade games are more true to the real dynamics of a sport than the realistic simulators.

Hollow knight can take up to 40 hours on the first playthrough and even has multiple endings, plus free new content and it's only 15 dollars. I believe this one should definitely be able to lower it's cost a little bit.
Yeah, I agree. Though at the same time Hollow Knight is an exceptional game in terms of value. There are not many other games which give that much quality content for the price.

That tennis clip. Take the 2 best players to ever grace the sport, but show a sequence where one, who is notoriously slow to server, is doing his OCD habits waiting to serve.
I used to get into NHL hitz on GameCube. It was an NBA Jam Style hockey game but you could also make your own team with animal heads and everything. I also used to play WWE Smackdown versus Raw lot but I usually just ended up making superheroes as custom wrestlers. It also went down the drain when THQ stop making them.

Totally agree with the views stated with regards to ultra-realistic sports games, I would say the same about racing games as well (which is what made me like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe a lot !). Great explanation of the pros and cons (especially the part regarding having to go through the cut scenes again before restarting the level). Excellent Review ! Hats Off !
Instead of saying that you have to think of what plays to do when the opponent gets the ball, you can just say: "The game is trickshot, Waluigi and Bowser Jr, worth it? Yes."

Nintendo needs to work on pricing models. Their games have extremely low budget compared to many. Smash Bros, Mario Odyssey, Zelda BOTW, XC2 are the only games that I think have been worth the price.

Two things: 1) My biggest gripe with the game was having to go through all the text just to redo a challenge. Hit the nail on the head there.
2) You can choose your court by changing the settings to a Custom list, and then taking out the ones (including all but one) you don't want. Will this allow you to choose one, and then another specific? Yes. Is it ideal and not super annoying? Nope. But there is that possibility, for the next time you need to do a skit ;)

I just got the game Saturday night played a little bit with my homeboy trying to use swing mode. Didnt know you unlocked it early in adventure mode. I brought it to work me and a female co-worker started playing and she herself couldn't get off the game and now she also wants to buy a switch too. I'm loving every second of Mario Tennis Aces I never thought a Tennis game could be this good

I got hyped after the online demo. I got frustrated with the Adventure Mode half way through. The game is literally unfinished and the online was beat after a few days. Not worth $60 at all unless you like grinding tournaments and doing the exact same thing for hours.

Wood, tennis isn't boring, they just bounce the ball before serving to mentally calm themselves, otherwise tennis is a fast paced sport, with some players serving over 140m/h.

Kirby is not a good comparison to make in order to justify the $60 price tag of Mario Tennis. This game’s story is too short and the menu screens look like the makers spent 10 minutes putting them together. This game looks like so much fun, but I absolutely disagree with the idea that it’s price is justified.
The most boring sport in the world is soccer. Followed by baseball.

I think it's cool how realistic they can make the physics for sports games... and they are still fun although there isn't any real creativity behind them.. imagine a game where u get to play the full life of an athlete. Buy cars, mansions and the like and actually play out their story which is heavily based around the sport... it could play out like one of those inspirational sports films... I think there is a lot of great potential with sports games in that regard.

Good to know I am not the only one who dislike real life sport video games. I like the cartoon-ish style like Mario, Sonic, Crash, etc. But NBA, MLB, and the rest of the real life based sport games are completely boring to me. I rather play video games that I can’t do in real life, cause I can go to the court and play Basketball, Volleyball, Baseball, Soccer, etc.

I loved the story/adventure mode in this game, I got it not expecting much other than playing tennis with my bf on the weekends. I was sad cause I wanted it to be longer, because I enjoyed the boss battles and gameplay
Mario Super Sluggers is on my top 3 Wii games. It’s such a fun and competitive game. Would love to see another one. I’d even be stoked to get a port

First off tennis is boring only on tv and only the matches that aren’t competitive, cause 5 set matches are really exciting especially if there going the distance in grand slams. And tennis is soooooooo much fun if u play it. Like I understand people think tennis is boring and not that exciting. I assure u my brothers/ sisters go to a tennis tournament and watch it live and ull get an idea how fast pace and crazy it is. So next time u see it on tv ull love it with that experience in mind. Once u know You’ll be hooked. However Mario tennis aces is just a awesome masterpiece.

Love Aces. I'd prefer a quicker was to retry a challenge after failing. Also more customization with rackets, costumes, etc so each player could have a different versions of characters with different stats
