I just bought a black knight from a swap meet for 15 bucks only to have the leg fall off when I put the slightest bit of pressure on the thigh swivel. I think the previous owner just glued it on. I think a #4 should work. My preference is to use the rounded wood screws rather than the flat head style. If my info is right, the #4 is just shy of 3 mm in diameter which should be sufficient. It really depends on the size of the peg hole that's already there. Measure it up and if the hold is bigger than 2.8mm then you'll need to get a larger screw.

I just fixed the arm on my kid's superman action figure. I threaded a screw into the broken peg remnant and removed it with pliers rather than drilling it out. Then used a screw to replace the peg just like you did.
If the joint is just loose and not broken I wouldn't do this technique. You could use floor cleaner liquid to tighten is or you could heat up the joint and pull the leg off and stuff a small piece of cotton or paper in the hole and pop the leg back on. that little bit of extra material should help to tighten the leg.
I'm guessing it might not work for a butterfly joint only because of the lack of space for the length of the screw. You could try it, but I don't know. I've been lucky to not have any butterfly joints break on me yet.
I'm guessing there wouldn't be any glues that are going to hold it for very long. Without knowing just how much space there is in the joint, I couldn't tell you a good way of fixing it. You'd have to start by taking the entire shoulder apart would be my guess. Wish I was more help.

Got super exited as all was going great, got the old peg pieces out, got my screw in without cracking pushed the screw into the old peg hole and was stoked until I saw that last action somehow cracked hip. 2020...

+Margarita Diaz if you can find a really small screw to use and a really small drill bit then in theory it should work. I've not had a broken Bicep peg yet so I'm not 100% sure.
I ended up drilling a small hole on each end, sticking piece of metal from a paper clip, a bit of glue and it worked... I was too scared to stick the screw into it. It doesn't move as well as the one you fixed but my son has been playing with it and it hasn't broken again! Thanks for your video!
Nice i just broke my brand new NECA alien warrior at the arm, on the elbow, i cant drill or disassemble the forearm and i am scared to drill in the biceps !!!

Be careful and sure handed so you don't accidentally drill too far and slowly screw in the screw so you don't crack the plastic, but yeah, my video will address this problem. Side note, if you do it all successfully, you should still have full use of the upper thigh cut joint.

Is it the shoulder peg that broke? Not sure if that would work for the shoulder, but you could certainly give it a try and see. basically any joint that uses a peg will work with this method unless it's too small and might then be too brittle.
Yeah, the plastic on this particular figure is terrible. Same with the Vision that came in that 3-pack. Only one that didn't have the plastic issues was the Hulk, and that guy just wasn't all that great of a figure. lol. I scored the 3-pack for $15 which I thought was a pretty good deal.
Sorry to hear that. My fear is that your pilot hole wasn't big enough or the screw was too big. Sometimes if the screw is twisted in too fast that'll do the plastic in. And sometimes the plastic was just bad from the start and that's why it broke in the first place. It always sucks when a figure breaks. I wish it went better for you.
@@TechChucker it's fine. It actually still worked, but in an unexpected way. Since the screw widened the peg it was able to fit just with friction. I can still pull it off but it still takes force to take it off. Its. Not a bad tutorial in anyway,other people's attempts were successful it's just mine wasn't. But it's fine because it all worked out in the end.

Would this fix the looseness on the rotation on my Spider-Man 2 action figure thigh joints its very loose when I rotate it?

That's essentially what you'er doing. It should still swivel with that screw replacing the old peg if you get it done right.

Alternative way use hot boiling water on the leg
But how does that fix a broken joint? That'll loosen a stuck one but this video goes through fixing a broken peg
