    They're removing WL because there were too many pops. Honestly I don't think PL is going to do better, nor is it going to be more exciting.

      It’s not the pops, it’s the IWF being complicit in it. The Olympic committee knows very well that PEDs are used in most sports, but not all federations literally take bribes to either protect someone from being popped or making sure another country does get popped. When the Olympic committee told the IWF to change up their organisation to weed out corruption, they said no, so the committee threatened to kick them out if they don’t get their shit together.
      Happy to clear up that misunderstanding, have a nice day.

    I want the Olympics to combine 2 events like uneven bars from gymnastics and diving, like at the end of the uneven bars routine they have to launch themselves in the air from the high bar then dive 👍

    Freestyle and Greco Roman Wrestling are not out of the olympics and actually as competitive as ever. No top tier powerlifter could pass the stringent VADA/USADA testing. World record raw totals would be 25% lower than what you see in “drug tested” competitions today. They are also testing the old blood and urine samples from 10-20 years ago with the newest testing technology and pulling medals. 155 medals have been stripped and counting.

      I don't think it would be that big of a differences. Probably more between 10 to 20 percent less. I'd believe that at least a few of the top guys in some weight classes actually are natty. Not Russ tho.

    • @msascuinonducorduco
      @msascuinonducorduco 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Micheldied That's where you're wrong here, it did make a huge difference.

    • @Micheldied
      @Micheldied 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@msascuinonducorduco I'm not talking about people who are completely untested vs actual natties. I'm talking people who compete tested who aren't blasting everything because they do have to go through testing. If you look at the total records of untested to tested meets, it's typically less than a 20 percent difference. Compare the tested guys who are on some stuff (not a lot) to the total natties and I doubt it's bigger than 20 percent.

      @@Micheldied to put it in perspective, you can fail a USADA drug test for having too much caffeine in your system. These “clean” powerlifting competitors would have to stop taking Protein Shakes, BCAAs, Creatine, Preworkout, etc because a majority of supplement manufactures have tainted products or ingredients that are banned.

    • @Micheldied
      @Micheldied 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@KingYanoFPS so are you saying that caffeine and protein supplements increase totals? Or...?

    You guys do understand that weightlifting / Olympic weightlifting is on of the original weight sports in the olympics….powerlifting actually came from and is a derivative of weightlifting

    In terms of basic Olympic events it should fit in. Who's the fastest? Who can jump highest/farthest? Who can throw this big rock/javelin the farthest? Who's the best fighter with wrestling, boxing and other martial arts. Who's the strongest?
    Squat and deadlift at least are the best tests of static strength. Would make more sense than horse riding being an Olympic sport anyway.

      Those have never been the criteria; the criteria is having an internationally recognised organisational structure for the sport. What bobsleigh has that powerlifting doesn’t is just that.

  • @olindblo

    Barring the very, very obvious PED issue in powerlifting (which is the case for any sport at the top level ), the real issue is organisational. A sport can only join the Olympics if it has a recognised worldwide organisation which sets the rules, monitors the sport worldwide, takes responsibility for testing etc.
    Additionally, the international parent organisation needs to be recognised worldwide by its national affiliates that it oversees. Here lies the problem: USAPL, inarguably the most important national powerlifting federation, does not recognise the IPF as presiding over them.
    As long as this feud between USAPL and IPF remains unsettled, it cannot petition to become an Olympic sport.

    Until they remove sailing and equestrian sports we really cant talk about what should and shouldn't be in the Olympics.

    No powerlifting should NOT be in the Olympics. I'd rather see BJJ, free style wrestling, Sambo wrestling, greco wrestling or kickboxing than a transgender arching their back.

    Watching dudes arch their back to the point where they only move the bar a few inches, is pretty dumb.

    No, because it's really useless if it's just to determine how "strong" person is. They haven't implemented it in Olympics for a reason: it hasn't reached the criteria yet AND it has to be standardized which it isn't at all. For that to happen, every applicants has to be drug tested to keep it fair. I can tell most will simply walk away or decry "I'm not on any steroids at all!" but refuse to be tested to verify. Take a look at Russians back in the 1990's nobody bothered to test them out and many of them were so huge and ridiculously strong due to doping concerns. Will it happen sometime in the future, sure if any of them is willing to be tested before joining, otherwise it's not gonna happen in any foreseen future.
