    Tip for kayakers : when you're paddling in mangrove tunnels separate your paddle into two pieces and only use one piece

      Hey there Nicky L, that’s a really good tip. Thanks for sharing!

      When you're paddling in the mangrove tunnels , the upside of your paddle will invariably get entangled in the trees and vines . If you do what I suggested then you will significantly reduce the possibility of that happening.
      Be safe

    ‘Glades have American Saltwater Crocs too. Fun stuff.

      Yes, they certainly do. We did not see any in the vicinity of “The Nightmare” but we did see several down around the settlement of Flamingo.

    My first thought is… let’s go hammock camping in the Nightmare. Configure a tarp-hammock-bug net between two trees as the water goes out, just chill there for six or seven hours til the tide comes back in… sounds more like a dream than a nightmare

    • @TheOneCanoe
      @TheOneCanoe  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That might work…. Just make sure you have the really fine mesh ‘No-See-Um’ bug net over your hammock! …. Oh, and maybe a pair of ear plugs to block out the din from the mosquitoes.

    Interesting paddle with a prophetic heads up warning about the left fork in the waterway.

    Anyone else notice the gator casually strolling out behind him when he is talking at the end ?

    Really cool video! That mangrove tunnel looks equal parts spooky and beautiful. Not being able to see through the water I fear my imagination would run wild with thoughts of alligators right underneath me. Terrifying!

      Thanks for checking out my video. It is indeed a bit spooked, but a very magical place for sure!

      No, thank god. Would not want to head in there during low tide, or as the sun was setting.

    Are there alligators in the nightmare area ?

    • @TheOneCanoe
      @TheOneCanoe  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We never saw any alligators while paddling the Nightmare. I’m no expert, but my educated guess would be there
      Are no alligators in there as they are fresh water creatures and the Nightmare is salt water. Also being cold blooded, alligators spend many hours sitting out in the sun, and there is no solid ground in that area for them to do so.
