I have always seen the battle location move if the armies move... you can kite them all into one big battle if you have multiple regions contested...

Maybe the extra troops were the mercs that you didn't hire? Baron grabbed them?

they definitely were. Just never seen him do that before at all! And the way he didn't push was very unusual. Almost like playing a real person lol

Reloading the game tends to help with some of the bugs. Honestly when I have a couple big settlements I just periodically do it, something is always stuck lol

I found that when I upgraded my artisan buildings to T3 they all broke as well, specifically my Butcher and Brewer. However when I saved and reloaded my game, it fixed it, and they started producing again.

I started a new playthrough on the new mountain map. I was set in the same region as you. Does everyone start in the same region ?
I was expecting a more difficult terrain : hills, cliffs

I always buy up all the mercs before claiming a region, or else the Barron will first.

I still don’t think the Arches mechanics have been fully worked out. With the height you had, if that was a total war game, you’d have at least cut even. Still awesome battle to watch and good to know for my next play through!

I'm still working my way through your river play through, but here are some comments/thoughts/and questions of my own since I am a fairly new player.
I just got my The Challenge achievement to make it 100%, so have learned at least one thing or two along the way. :)
    Tips:
Plate armor is for retinue upgrades - makes their cheaper in theory (half) - so perhaps 17 instead of 34.
Not sure it is worth the 3 town points to get though as once you have decent money coming in steadily, a cheaper upgrade isn't worth it even one town point IMO.
When you own Mercenaries and don't actively need them- post on the border between two or 3 of your cities to allow them to be closer to react to any region under attack. Also buy up any mercenaries when challenging baron for a region, otherwise he will recruit them and send them after you in a 2nd wave (or 3rd wave). I believe as long as you have army units in a region, bandits won't burn it down.
I've seen someone/from somewhere suggest to export from City A before importing for City B to get the cheaper rate in place and so the game knows where to try importing from first rather than the merchant.

Challenge tip - its all about happiness and patience - don't upgrade to t2 too soon without their requirements otherwise it tanks happiness and stunts your growth
Have t2 church, extra food and clothing types available and more than your initial 5 families before upgrading. The start of my challenge run was really hard and growth was stunted because I upgraded to t2 too soon so I could get that 2nd town point ASAP, but then I was stuck at the initial 5 families forever because my happiness hovered near 24% and 35%.
I think the happiness requirements for burgage plots is set to +1 so that you want to have happy t2 before committing to the upgrade (2 clothes, 3 food, lvl 2 church, etc).
Otherwise you are better off keeping it at T1 until you have everything in place and get those extra families trickling in.
My questions mainly so far are:
Do double plots of t2 and T3 upgrade the effectiveness of shops (like tailors or butchers, etc)? If not, you are better off with 1-T2 family out of your labor force being (for example) a shoemaker rather than 4 families eating food, but only making 1 plot worth of shoes.
Tool tip for Apiaries says only 2 per region, do more help ? ( is the tooltip wrong?) 2 per city, 16 max for all 8 regions?
In your river playthrough you dropped a bunch and seemed to get a bunch of honey with only 1 or 2 people in each which seemed to suggest that indeed, more were better.
Keep building though, loving this series and game so far. Can't wait for them to keep developing it.

Only one I can answer is yes, apiary tool tip is wrong. They are really good for food! It's 2 per day max. 9 aviaries with 1 family in each works really well

      @TheOnlyL0nzY
Good otherwise I was pretty disappointed in investing one point into having only 2 of them like the tooltip suggested and having 8 families tied up into both of them felt super underwhelming, especially when it became a larger city .
