Love your videos Rico they are so informative and easy to watch I’ve been looking into relocating to Cyprus from uk 🇬🇧 and really so much information in your videos does help a lot thank you
We have been living here for 21 years, and the price of food (we spend around €120 a week on food now), eating out in restaurant's and property rentals have gone up a lot. Although we still pay peanuts in income tax on our pensions, and our village council tax for 2025 is €176.50 a YEAR. And we get our bin emptied twice a week. Water rate €80 a YEAR, Electricity is quite expensive at around €1500+ year with a pool and using A/C in the summer. Central heating/hot water oil for 4 months of the year is about €800. Fast fibre Internet cost €35 a month. The healthcare is excellent and fast here, I just had a hernia operation and it was all fixed within 2 weeks. The only problem living here now is that it is far too hot between June-September, although I guess nowhere is perfect ! But then anything is better than living in the dystopian UK !
Very informative and realistic video. I arrived in 2021 and had the same experience, seeing prices going up like crazy Let's see if this last and how long. Thanks a keep it up, Rico!
@@Rico I live in Pafos, at Universal. I must also say that, together with the prices going up, the city has totally changed. Many improvements, works everywhere, the center has been totally renovated, the Harbour, tourist area...
Hi Rico, I'm also glad to see more useful content coming again. What I could add is that it is important to put the things into perspective i.e. value for money. And it is disappointingly low. If you take into account poor infrastructure or sometimes lack of it, bad service, horrible bureaucracy, hostile banking, and very poor housing built and furnishing quality, these prices are not worth it. I spend half a year in Cyprus and half a year in another country and there I pay less than half for much higher quality. Will be leaving Cyprus as soon as I can reorganize things.
I agree bureaucracy is still a pain here, and slow ! Banking is a rip off and they charge you for the air you breath in banks. And property is so overpriced. But I guess then nowhere is perfect, everywhere has it's problems. Oh on a good note the healthcare is excellent here which is bonus when you are old like us.
@cyprusman5908 Sure, there is no perfect place, and looking for such is pointless. On the other hand, there are alternatives, and it is good to try the options to have a comparison. We have got one life only, and living in a suboptimal place is a wrong strategy, in my opinion. I've lived in 7 countries (and visited many), and Cyprus is comparably low on my list. And if I take value for money, it is almost at the bottom - including health care....
@JA-he2qz Everyone must make their homework according to their financial situation and what they like regarding culture, cost of living, taxes, weather, and so on. It is very unlikely that Cyprus will be on that list after you do the homework
@@daruman8265 I have been doing it, Im also looking for a country that is in EU or close. Not interested in Asia or south america, not so much in arab countries either. So if you have something in mind in/around europe please just list those countries, I may have omitted them. Taxes on inc. are a big thing for me, cost of living is secondary, but infrastructure and whether is also important
Electric cost when you add all the additional payments, network useage, data management, electric supply, ancillary charges, fuel adjustment, public service obligation, RES fund and VAT comes out at 36.7 cents/kWh, I used 656kWh anbd my total bill was 241.89 euro
Thank you Rico for the information. I am a little bit interested on how much food cost in a supermarket. Maybe you can make a video from a supermaket to show us what for example bread, fruit, vegetables, meat and other foods cost in Cyprus.
Hi Rico, can you mention a little bit about car insurance and medical insurance prices? I know GESY works well, though most foreigners also have private insurance. Also, I couldn't find any actual rates for car insurances online...
A rental contract can be signed from multiple people and then the other thing would be the utility bills. And as one person can get the electricity bill, and another person can get the water bill, it's pretty much the same as if you would rent the property yourself.
@@Rico if you do the 60-90 day non dom, do you have to continue paying rent for the entire yr or is it sufficient to rent out for the 60 days? where can I find these rooms for rent (roomates) to rent out a room, any sites?
Thanks for all the insights Rico. Most useful 😊 From all the vids of yours I watched [via recommendation] you seemed to be open to enquiries so I messaged you via your website contact section a few weeks ago when I was in Cyprus on a trip from the UK - asking for some licensed estate agent recommendations - but never heard back from you. Awesome content as always! 👏 I have a quick question: what are the average rates for 1-on-1 personal training sessions in cities like Paphos or Limassol? For example, how much could someone expect to pay for a general fitness trainer (Let’s say in an everyday gym) versus a specialized trainer (one with some specializations/niche)? Any insight would be super helpful. Thanks!
Hey there, it's about 20€ - 100€ per hour for a personal training, highly depending on the quality of the coach. My coach charges something in the middle of that.
I never tried a trainer in an everyday gym, but I suppose they are relatively affordable. I recommend you to just google a random gym and give them a call to ask. :)
for me eating out in restaurants is not so much more expensive compared to buying all the stuff, cooking and investing my time. It is comparatively simular than buying Salmon for 12€ other side dishes and cook by yourself
I live in Limassol and I think Limassol is the most expensive city in Cyprus and I can confirm that. But if you go out to eat, for example, where the locals eat, it's usually very good and more cheap.
Doha in Qatar actually cheaper than Cyprus still. Prices in Cyprus comes close to Dubai recently. And for me trading Forex on CFDs it is not clear if they are taxed as individual because 99% of all Forex brokers offer Forex trading through CFDs reading their fine print in terms. So only Interactive Brokers and some big ones offer real spot Forex trading, which is then of course fully taxed as individual trader. So what is about CFDs on Forex, tax free too or not ???
@@JA-he2qz Yep, Oman too, but Doha in Qatar is more developed, they are copying Dubai but are behind them. They will grow like Dubai in the next decade for sure. Many investments are planned into the city. Lusail and Qatar soccer world championship was just the beginning.

Why not Mercedes? I was very lucky with my SLK, I think. I also found a great Mercedes Mechanic in Paphos who always helps with everything very fast for fair prices.
mostly accurate except the fruits part. There's no climate for blueberries unlike Poland/Germany here. Try mandarins, clementines, oranges etc and seasonally only. Try farmers markets too, they rip us off in the supermarkets. I haven't visited a supermarket in over 2 years :P
