Although they weren't my favorite team, the late 80's/early 90's Portland teams really grew on me. To see Duckworth, Kersey, and Robinson on this list is sad. May all these guys be in a much better place and may they rest in peace.
The absence of Bob Lanier is inexcusable.
There's several who are not there. Dave DeBusschere, K.C. Jones, Tom Heinsohn, JoJo White, Walt Bellamy are others. all HOF.
@@toddlane4261Yep Tommy died only a couple years ago he was a great announcer too RIP.
Even though I didn't know a lot of these players, I still felt bad seeing each and everyone of them, especially the ones that died too young at like under 50, or even those who died younger, at like under 30 :(. Really sucks to know that a guy that you remember playing in the nba just a few years ago is now dead... like Rasual Butler and Adreian Payne.
Rest In Peace To All... 🥺
And Here's To The One's I Grew Up Too.
Wilt Chamberlain
Malik Sealy
Bobby Phills
Bison Dele
George Mikan
Eddie Griffin
Lorenzo Wright
Robert Traylor
Moses Malone
Anthony Mason
Darryl Dawkins
Sean Rooks
Fab Melo
Tyler Honeycutt
John Havlicek
Cliff Robinson
Jerry Sloan
Paul Westphal
Elgin Baylor
Caleb Swanigan
Bill Russell
Kobe Bryant
I had forgotten about Malone's passing. I am replaying the 1985-86 NBA season with a cards & dice basketball game and more than a few players are on this list. Thanks for posting it.
My wife became good friends with Mark Eaton. She called me from work in tears as soon as she found out what happened to him. He was a genuinely great guy. An absolute gentleman.
I always wonder where would Len Bias be ranked in the history of basketball if he lived and played 10 to 15 years.
@@kirkjohnson2302 bro I'm absolutely in agreement with you Man the absolute incredible potential Lenny had for the NBA probably would have went down as the greatest power forward in history or small forward depending where they would have put him! But one of the most incredible jump shooters I've ever seen in college!
R.I.P. to all of them 🙏🙏🙏
Rip Kapetane ❤ DRAŽEN PETROVIĆ- the Greatest Croat ever lived ❤
They left off a friend of mine...Eddie Johnson, brother of Frank Johnson who played in San Antonio I believe.
Fast Eddie Johnson played at Auburn University and was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks, he was a 2 time NBA All Star he was traded to Cleveland late in his Career.
RIP Eddie
A lot of ppl on this list was new to me. Jerome kersey, Kevin duckworth and Cliff Robinson were all on the same team at the same time at one point. The even made it to the finals 2 times in ‘90 and ‘92
They had squad 2, only the Lakers stood n there way back then n the West
How about Tommy Heinson, Jo Jo White, Dave Debusschere, Dwayne “Pearl” Washington, McCoy McLemore, and Jimmy “Floyd Butterball” McMillan? Also LeRon Ellis , Flynn Robinson, and Rudy LaRusso. Don’t forget Johnny Kerr, Larry Costello, and Al Bianchi. Also Daryl Imhoff and Louis Orr. Golly. You missed a lot of dead hoopsters.
One guy I really liked, that's not on the list is Quintin Dailey ! Dailey had drug issues, but he could shoot a sweet jumper ! And was quick.
@@Godfather-rn6rb So many brothers ! I didn't know about John Drew. One of my favorites was Darryl "Chocolate Thunder" Dawkins with his "Sexophonic Spinechiller Supreme" dunk !
A lot of people here died way too young...
You left out John "Hot Rod" Williams of the Cavaliers. He was an all-star a few times.😟
Rest In Peace Kobe Bryant 🥺🙏🏻
RIP Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain, for their intense and legendary battles, were for the ages..
What about John Drew? I drove a Yellow Cab with him in Houston,Texas.
Unfortunately he died from bone cancer this past April
Cliff Robinson not only played basketball, but played Survivor Cagayan, 5th person voted out.
What about John "Hot Rod" Williams? He was a forward for the Cleveland cavaliers. He passed away way too young
Where is Mike Mitchel.
Played 11 years in the NBA .
The second best scorer in the Spurs team history besides Iceman George Gervin died in 2011
He was 55 years of age
He averaged over 19 points a game.
The sixth best scorer in the Spurs history.
Mike actually averaged 25.7 points and is the second best Spurs player in history.
1 Duncan
2 Mike
3 Robinson
4 Iceman
@@loganblack4885
He was a very good person too.
I live in San Antonio.
That's why I was unhappy not to see his name.
Thanks.
great video! I would have included Gus Johnson who played for the Baltimore Bullets back from 1963 to 1972.
They used Julius Erving's pic for Caldwell Jones.
Caldwell Jones played for the Portland Trailblazers along with Jerome Kersey , Kevin Duckworth , Cliff Robinson & Marice Lucas. My Hometown Team.
In my opinion the greatest athlete that died was the legend Bill Russell!
@@davidwesley2525 didn't Caldwell Jones also played for the Celtics at one time?
2:51 Dan Roundfield looks like Patrick Beverly! And I didn't know Cliff Robinson, Rasul Butler, and Paul Westphal died.
Dan Roundfield was a terrific PF in the 80's. but played on lesser teams.
I did not know Andre Emmett died. I remember him from big 3. Haven't watch that in a while so.
Deeply sadden by all these players... especially Kobe Bryant... May they all rest in power 🙏💖
Kobe 🏀🔥💪🙏
After reading through the list, I counted 5 former New Orleans Hornets/Pelicans players who have passed away! RIP to the fallen players!
Rip Bryant
I still remenber Malik Sealy being intervieved by a NYC tv station when St Jhons made it to the NCAA tournament.
These videos are great. Would be even better if you put the cause of death below their photo. Briefly, like "Natural Causes", "Heart Attack", Car Accident" etc.
Sad Seeing Picture of Kobe Bryant name across the screen...
Still don't seem real he's gone
Wilt Chamberlain the greatest athlete of all time
In my opinion, it’s actually Jackie Robinson, he was an All-American in four sports, and possibly five:
Baseball
Basketball
Football
Track and field
And quite possibly, tennis
@@yell0wberry Jackie Knows he wasn't the best. He not even better then his own brother.
@@BoosterGoldEarth6 as great a athlete as his own brother was, he sacrificed his own career to take care of his family. He was mainly a track and field athlete and didn’t letter in any of the other sports like his brother. being a hater is not good for you, let it go.
@@yell0wberry a hater. You the one hating on This man for saying Wilt the 🐐
3:00 Caldwell Jones, thats a pic of Dr. J
You got a picture of Dr.J as Caldwell Jones.
Also, some more ABA players: Marvin Barnes, Johnny Neumann, Warren Jabali, Wendell Ladner, George Thompson, Zelmo Beatty, Larry Miller, and Sam Smith. Also, possibly, John Brisker, who mysteriously vanished in Uganda in 1978 and was declared legally dead in 1985 (but no one really knows for sure).
And basketball lost a legend in Willis Reed, who sadly passed away in 2023. The greatest center in NY Knicks history. RIP Captain #19 👍🏀🗽
* Are you sure you meant "Rick Berry" and not the great "Rick Barry" (who is still very much alive)?
*Caldwell Jones, but picture was of Julius Erving
*A few more of the great legacy ABA players no longer with us: Artis Gilmore*, Willie Wise, Roger Brown
*Gilmore great player in the NBA as well!
@@Kevin21JH Mandela Effect strikes again...could have sworn I read he had passed away a few years ago! Very glad to see that I was wrong about that -- I'm sure Artis is too...
This list is missing Andrew Smith, passed away in 2016, who led Butler University to 2 consecutive national championship appearances in 2010 and 2011. RIP
Johnny “Red” Kerr and Norm Van Lier died on the same day in Chicago. How can you miss having one without the other?
Bobby “Slick” Leonard, one of the greatest ABA coaches of all time with one of the best teams ever in the ABA, the Indiana Pacers.
Eternal peace and prayers to Bill Russell.
If Maurice didn’t had that injury, the Royals/Kings would’ve won championships
You left out C.J.Charles Johnson of Redwood City,Ca.Warriors and Bullets,a good family friend 🙏🏿
Caldwell Jones played with Kersey and Duckworth on the blazers. The next season Jones had left and Cliff Robinson came in as a rookie. r.i.p. To all these guys
🙏 May All of these Great NBA Players be Blessed to a Better World & Realm ... 🕯🌻🌿🌍💖🕊🏀
You guys noticed they made a mistake and put Julius Erving in there. He still living far is right now.
Cardwell jones..but they put a picture of Dr j...really smart.
I can't believe that you didn't include Bob Lanier, who passed away just a few months after Bill Russell.
I knew Eric Mobley personally we grew up together an went to the same church my mother use to babysit him an his brother John Mobley back in the 1970s
Where is Norm Van Lier??? 3-Time All-Star who teamed with Jerry Sloan to be one of the greatest defensive backcourts ever. No Respect just like the Bulls ownership who never even Retired his #2.
It really hard seing Kobe on here..never thought in a million years he would be gone now.. 😔Longlive black mamba
I did not know about Anthony Mason that one hurt, RIP Knick Legend.
Y'all bogus for having Dr J's picture on here instead of Caldwell's.
If Lenny bias would have lived we would have been talkin about one of greatest power forwards in NBA history! That's how good he was in college scoring and rebounding and his defense was really good!
R.I.P. Kobe Bryant🥺🥺💛💜🥺🥺
Bill Russell aka the real Goat 🐐 of the NBA Basketball 🏀 Association. I can't believe 😪 😢 Andrew Toney wasn't on that list.
A lot of them died so young! May they all rest in peace.🌹🙏 🕊️
Dam, alot of these players died and they weren't very old either.
Wayman Tinsdale was a hellva Bass guitarist!!!!!!!
Maybe I didnt see well but Roy Tarpley is not in this list...Few of them played in Greece like C.Shackleford,Alf. Ford and Br. Thompson...
Damn, I didn’t even know some of these players I grew up watching had passed away, so sad.
Didnt know that Dr. J went by Caldwell Jones! 🤦🏽♂️
Wow Duckworth Kersey and Cliff Robinson played together
Quite a few names missing like Gus Johnson, Jojo White, Roger Brown, Meadowlark Lemon & Curly Neal. 🤷🏾♀️
Why does Caldwell Jones show a pic of Julius Erving??
Next : List of Great Singers Who Died From Different Countries.
You missed Charles Johnson, played for Warriors and Bullits in the 1970s scored 103 points in one high school game.
Caldwell jones pic is wrong that is Julius erving
Dennis Johnson was pretty young when he passed away 😔
I did not know Paul Westpaul passed away. Sad.
Didn’t know a lot of them passed away, the familiar names yes but some like oh damn
They had Julius Erving as the picture for Caldwell Jones lol!
I remember when Hank gathers died they beat Michigan in the tournament bo Kimble shot free throws with his Left hand
3 members of the 1990 Portland Trail Blazers who lost to Detroit in the NBA Finals are on this list.
They put Dr. J's picture, on Caldwell Jones' name???
Why did they put Julius Erving's picture for Caldwell Jones? Don't these guys research?
wow amazing 🌟 s bless 🙏🙏💢🌟
Why you got Dr. J picture in for Caldwell Jones? Come on, Man!!!!!
The video: 😢😭😭😟😟💔💔😔😔

2015 was a rough year for basketball
Pretty sure Dr. J would like a word.
