Officers turning off, or muting body worn cameras in the course of their duty, should be charged with felony tampering. This is crazy that they keep getting away with this.
It's not their feelings that's being hurt. It's their pride that's been bruised. Unfortunately, too many LEOs are only LEOs to get an ego fix - a way to inflate their undersized egos and bolster their general sense of inferiority and inadequacy. It's state sanctioned bullying. And they feel threatened when someone doesn't grovel before them, and their sense of superiority they think is bestowed by their job. It is a clear threat to their sense of authority, and the authority of LEOs in general. Clearly, that's what this was about. These cops had the opportunity to stop and have a conversation with this kid and try to change his opinion on police, but instead they ended up proving him right.

Purposefully turning off your bodycam should be an immediate ground for dismissal. Officers who do this clearly do not have the interests of protecting the public in mind and need to be kept far away from the slightest reach of power.

Had a cop tell me not to cuss in his office (his car) when he had me pulled over for doing 72 in a 70 and I said to his face da fuq you gonna do about it. I'm normally nice because most of my interactions have been pretty good with cops but this guy was rude and condescending from the get go. When he gave me this stern look and just went back to writing his ticket I said that's what I fuqing thought.....

The cameras should be made on that way, that once off charge, or attached to copper turn on automatically and are impossible to manipulate with by the user /carrier until handed back to station for data download. Just my opinion
What's worse is the second cop tried to validate the first cop's actions. This proves once again that the system is broken. He interrupted the kid multiple times and he made huge assumptions. These are two guys that are very bad at what they do, but they've got egos the size of buildings.

I do understand that what he does is legal and stuff but oh man … why do people have to act up this way. Here in Germany it’s not freedom of speach if I give the finger to a police officer or just a normal person. You actually can get charges up to 10.000€ (about 10.600$). Out there are cops doing a bad job for sure but there are a lot of them who really try to be helpful and keep us safe all day. I don’t feel like you have to treat the police as a whole in such a disrespectful way, no matter if ist FOS or not. I guess if I would be in that situation as one of the cops I would politely ask the young boy if he ever had negative situations with the police and if I could help him out in any way. I have to add, that my personal experiences with local police here is 80% positive and what I can recommend to every citizen is, that cops are just human beings aswell. Can't do this because of one simple thing. Prove to me the camera didn't malfunction, or that the button was not pressed accidentally, or by the "perp" while pressed against him while cuffing him. It's too hard to prove, and it could potentially happen to a lot of innocent cops. There is no way in hell with current tech that this would be a good, or just idea. I doubt you really thought it through.. More needs to happen to prevent it, and as data storage gets cheaper, and takes less resources, I have a feeling all cameras will be on 24/7 without an ability to even turn them off, or at least only heavily restricted ways. The tech just needs to catch up to demand.

As a police officer, he was not within to law to do what he did, meaning that he has to bite his tongue until a crime is committed, which he didn't. Is the kid an asshole too? I do understand that what he does is legal and stuff but oh man … why do people have to act up this way. Here in Germany it’s not freedom of speach if I give the finger to a police officer or just a normal person. You actually can get charges up to 10.000€ (about 10.600$).
Out there are cops doing a bad job for sure but there are a lot of them who really try to be helpful and keep us safe all day. I don’t feel like you have to treat the police as a whole in such a disrespectful way, no matter if ist FOS or not.

Can't do this because of one simple thing. Prove to me the camera didn't malfunction, or that the button was not pressed accidentally, or by the "perp" while pressed against him while cuffing him. It's too hard to prove, and it could potentially happen to a lot of innocent cops. There is no way in hell with current tech that this would be a good, or just idea. I doubt you really thought it through.. More needs to happen to prevent it, and as data storage gets cheaper, and takes less resources, I have a feeling all cameras will be on 24/7 without an ability to even turn them off, or at least only heavily restricted ways. The tech just needs to catch up to demand.
