Ahh yes 2007...one of the most significant years of my life. Hearing this puts me right back in. Nights at the club, girls galore, stupid...stupid ideas and soooo many mistakes. 10/10 would do it all over again.
I’m in agreement - Louise Bartle is pretty good to be fair to her, but Tong was special. Just listen to silent alarm front to back and the first half of A weekend in the City - it illustrates my point perfectly.
I remember when I got my first job, I'd wake up in the morning, make breakfast, sit and eat it in the living room watching a music channel and this was on most mornings.
So many of Bloc Party's songs are timeless. Flux is such a relentless groove and the lyrics hit so hard, and of course, this video is just incredibly fun.

Was living in Washington, DC during my 20s and saw as much live music as possible. I think I'd heard one or two of their songs, went to see them at the Black Cat on 14th St. I think the ticket was $8 and I stood about 5' from them as they played. Excellent show, very good band and performers. I always thought their drummer was absolutely awesome.
The biggest crush of my life introduced me to this song the same night he rejected me forever. I'll never forget that night and this song will forever hold a special place in my life. I listen to it now, decades later, to evoke emotion I no longer feel naturally.

Such great songwriting !! As great as the melody is, the lyrics really hit home for most of us - at least at some point in our life.....hopefully not now!
I remember seeing this in the early years of TH-cam. For one, it didn’t look grainy back then, but it’s still amazing. So many things have happened in my life since last watched this. 😔
I remember I saw it in MTV and immediately fell in love with this song. It was soo magical! Butterflies and shit ❤️😀 Became Bloc Party fan after this. Oh good old times!
The mid-2000s were great, social media hadn’t ruined relationships yet , it was still OK to be a Democrat (since they weren’t corrupt back then) and there was no only fans . Great times .
Its crazy because I’ve known about Bloc Party for probably a decade from the Guitar Hero games, and it’s only now i’m listening to their full discography. I’ve been missing out on a lot!

Back in 2007 I went to see Kaiju Big Battle, I knew some of the guys there, and they played this live, because some of KBB wrestlers are in the vid. Proud moment to be part of that show live.

If your right hand is causing you pain
Cut it off, cut it off
If your colours have started to run
Let them all run, run away from you
There is lightning in this room
Above our heads waiting to strike
I'm a thinker, not a talker

We were hoping for some romance
All we found was more despair
We must talk about our problems
We are in a state of flux
[Verse 2]
I'd kill for an adventure
Just you and I in the Curzon Bar
Dancing until we knew
So all that we've learned disappeared
When you shouted at me
I saw my father in the second grade
Concerned and kind
Yet unable to reach me
[Chorus]
We were hoping for some romance
All we found was more despair
We must talk about our problems
