  • Following on from the previous video on our 68000 based computer, we see the project completed and tested, first and foremost with a minimalistic piece of software. Once this has determined that the processor is indeed running, we add the remaining components and see it working properly with a four digit display.

    Whoa DIP-64, I didn’t know that existed.

Not used a lot I guess, but still available from RS components (and others?) for a paltry £6.00 inc. VAT each :-)

Love this project! Do you have a schematic for this published somewhere?

I've included some details of how to make up one of these computers at the end of the video. The 'difficult' bits are shown in the clock/reset circuit page you can screen grab and save, plus the memory I/O circuitry. To go with these two pages, the following NETLIST will show where all the pins of the ICs are connected to. It should therefore be possible to build your own project using this information, as this is all the information I used (from a much older 68K project) to actually build and test the one you see here. If you have any problems or queries whilst you are doing this then just drop me a note!

Don't forget that the idea of showing these details for a short duration is so that you can freeze the frame on your computer, do a 'print screen' then print it out for yourself as an actual hard copy if you like.

I noticed the schematic in the video but wasn't sure if you had a PDF or kicad schematic published somewhere too. No worries. I did as you suggested and screen grabbed the schematics. Thank you!

Afraid that the one you see is the only one I have here, which you now have! I've never taken the trouble to draw things out on a CAD package as by the time I've finished the project I'm usually onto the next one :-) Let me know how you get on with it!
