A new documentary, Where Olive Trees Weep, explores Palestinian loss, trauma and the fight for justice over decades of life under Israeli occupation. We speak with two people featured in the film: Ashira Darwish, a Palestinian journalist and therapist, and Dr. Gabor Maté, an acclaimed Hungarian Canadian physician whose work focuses on addiction and trauma.
"I was only 16 when I was taken," says Darwish, describing the first time she was beaten and arrested by Israeli soldiers, which motivated her to become a journalist in order to both document and fight against the occupation. "What's happening in Palestine is devastating, and what's happening in the West Bank and Gaza has been going on for 75 years."
Maté, a Holocaust survivor born in Hungary, recounts his own trauma as a child and says "that same horror" is being inflicted on Palestinian children today.

And I, the Lord, am watching this and moving on the Cross. I suffer from these many sins, but none turns to Me to relieve My pain. The sins of men are hard, hostile and scouring, they burn and lacerate Me, but the demons are merciless. I can do nothing for them, neither for one nor the other, because they do not turn to Me. They destroy each other and their hatred feeds hatred, their cruelty and brutality leave Me no respite on My Cross. This movie shows the brutality of the occupiers and the strength and resilience of the besieged Palestinians. It is full of melancholy, sadness and loneliness of these heroic people. The title is very well chosen, in Palestine even the ancient olive trees cry😢❤.

The Palestinians should gain back what every human being on this planet deserves: their freedom, land, houses, villages, human rights and dignity.

I've just watched this documentary made in 2022 and it's a phenomenal, powerful piece of work. Really should be viewed by every human being on this earth to understand the brutalities of occupation and similarities with tactics/merciless severity employed by the Third Reich over their victims in captivity.
It is mind-blowing that our governments over decades have enabled and supported such evil and illegalities. There should be screenings all over the world. I pray for the liberation of Palestine in my lifetime! The freedom of Palestinians is the freedom of humanity! We have seen the underlying powers in America contributing to the genocide and at the same time destroying what once we thought it was a democracy.
Governments are not a independent
entity. People are responsible for the government they have so there is no such thing as innocent people in war.The only thing to be concerned with is who started that war and once established there is no consideration for the for the rights of that country because it has initiated the use of force and therefore stepped outside of the principle of rights.
There are no words--certainly not enough.
