5:11 although NGK recommends against using any anti-seize on their spark plugs (as stated on their web site), I ignore their recommensdations with over 55 years of maintenance and repairs to my vehicles. I just place a flash coating on it using an artists paint brush instead of using the coarse bristle brush in the cap and I do not put gobs on either. According to the Bosch spark plug manual, they also reduce torques by 30% when using any coating on the threads. As for your Bel Ray Assembly Lube, is it listed for use on spark plugs? I use Permatex Anti-Seize, the silver (zinc) colored paste.
Gday from Tasmania 🦘🇦🇺. I’ve been enjoying your videos & started watching you for instructions on using the Moto scan unit. Now you’re my go-to for maintenance for my 2014 R1200 GS. Just thought you may have some advice on an issue created by my heavy hand I guess. That lower crash bar, lower front bolt. I’ve damaged the thread on the bike. I’m wondering if you’ve had any experience with using the Time Sert product rather than a heli coil to fix the issue.
Bollox. 12nm is nothing. I doubts that would even damage the the threads if the plugs were made from plastic. Also clue is in the title, old mechanic. Been doning this a while. Where is your video, and why are you here?
The Bob Ross of R1200GS mechanics. Love it man!
Thanks !
Hlo Mr. Old Mechanic, just little bit question? Rear brake cylinder its broke, can we fix to change the reapair kit or buy new one?

Hi mate 😉 I have no experience with a time insert, but my way to go would be a Helicoil. And a torque wrench 😁👍🏻👊🏻
Gracias A+++
Thank you.
Hi, enjoyed your videos very helpfully. I have a BMW r 1200 gs 2018 can you recommend a manual for this bike.
Handige bliksem, waar kom je vandaan? Als het in de buurt is kom ik mijn GSA brengen
Ik moet je teleurstellen Gerard, ik zit voor het hele jaar vol..😎
Assuming this is your own motorcycle how often do you replace the plugs?
Official BMW maintenance plan says to inspect and clean every 10k and replace every 20k Km.
Please be aware that applying lube to screw threads then torqueing to the original value can lead to over tightening and damaged threads.

It isn’t necessary to take off the crash bars
