Hi! I just came across this vlog as I was doing research on UPenn dental school and really enjoyed watching the vlog. I’m not sure if you will see my comment by my interview date but I have an interview coming up this week for UPenn and was wondering if you have any tips for it?

Hey! First off congrats! That’s an amazing accomplishment. You are early into the application cycle so that’s a great sign. I think the best advice I can give you is to be yourself. It sounds cliche but I’ve noticed there is a lot of personality within my class. Don’t be afraid to show your character because that will make you stand out amongst the rest. Obviously staying professional at all times is important. Aside from that, don’t be too hard on yourself. They clearly like you on paper as you got offered an early interview invite so as long as you show them you’re personable you will do fine! Be confident (not cocky)! Feel free to reach out with any other questions and let me know how it goes after! Finally, in case you feel like you need more preparation, I offer mock interviews. If interested, you can find the link on my Instagram bio, @thedentduo. Good luck! 🤞

Thanks for the vlog!! I was wondering, do you have any advice to high schoolers who are interested in becoming a dentist?

Of course, thanks for watching! To start, I would definitely focus on your general chemistry and biology classes in high school. I personally didn’t and I had to pay the price and work extra hard to get a foundation on these courses which was tough during undergrad. I would also recommend taking some AP courses junior and senior year such as AP Chem, AP Bio, AP Physics, etc. to have some credits under your belt by the time you graduate highschool. Also, keep your GPA high and try to involve yourself into dentistry in whatever ways possible. I watched TH-cam videos, followed dental students and dentist on Instagram as well as followed Instagram accounts like “@dentalshadowers” to receive good resources and insight on how to prepare yourself during undergrad and make sure this is a career I’m actually interested in. Finally, once you start undergrad, which will happen before you know it, reach out again early on and I’ll be more than happy on giving you tips you can use to make yourself the best applicant possible when it comes time to apply down the road in dental school. Getting into dental school is difficult but if you get involved early it’s more than doable. Good luck!

what is the purpose of waxing ?

Hey! We wax in dental school as an introduction to learning how to make controlled and precise movements with our hands. In addition, it also teaches us dental anatomy and helps us pay attention to small details.
