I kinda liked the fact that the romance and fan service wasn't forced like other animes. There just was a bit of romantic tension here and there but the anime focused on its mystery and problem solving more which was a breath of fresh air. Great anime, would recommend.
Guyss did anyone noticed the change of the roles of chitanda and the protagonist?? First she is the one with future plans and all and always around with her bike. Later on she gets notified by her parents that she has to keep up the family tradition and has to stop living up her dreams. The protagonist starts to discover the world for himself and do sth with his life. Furthermore, in the last scene he has a bike which he never used before and chitanda doesnt anymore bc her future was blocked
Oreki did use his bike in one or two of the earlier eps, eg. when they all went to Chitanda's house. He usually doesn't need to use his bike because his house is supposedly closer to their school and Chitanda uses it to come to school everyday. The idea is that since Chitanda is from an old, powerful farming family, she lives in the outskirts while the rest just live in the city. In the last scene Oreki came to Chitanda's part of the town which is supposedly far away and hence used a bike and Chitanda was just walking with him to bid him goodbye since she did call him in for a favour and it wouldn't be right to just send him away like that( and probably because they like each other but hey, maybe that's just me since I really ship them a lot) Also Chitanda's future wasn't blocked by her parents, she chose that path. She loves her land and she knows that's where her future lies and she is content with the thought of being the one to inherit her family's legacy.
