    Ronnie's band Elf played at a party about a half mile from my home could hear it clear as a bell.

    I agree 110% with you on Elf. I tried to get in to it, just not my thing musically. I prefer Ronnie's :1959-1965 doo wop bands, over Elf. I was blown away when Angry Machine's originally dropped in 1996. I was fortunate to met Dio on that particular tour. I saw Dio several times, between: 1981 to 2008. Many times at the Philadelphia Spectrum, through out the '80s. My wife was a journalist for Metal Maniacs magazine for 15 years, she was blessed to have interviewed Dio three times, once in person, for an hour, at his former record label, in NYC. R.I.P. R.J.D.

      @@docvader82. Well, it may be fake, because its existence seems weird, but in theory it's an album he did in the 60s, before Elf, in a band called Ronnie and the Prophets. They played doo-wop, rhythm and blues and rock and roll, and I think the album has both studio and live tracks.

    For me it's Heaven and Hell and I think it may be the best Sabbath record also. I do love Ozzy, especially on Sabotage, Volume 4 and Masters of Reality but I saw Sabbath live on the Dehumanizer tour with Dio and holy hell was that amazing. It made me realize that Dio was well beyond what Ozzy could do vocally live. Even when Dio did some Ozzy songs, they were done brilliantly. It's two totally different styles and approach so it also depends on what mood you're in. I just can't justify another record over H & H. It's too damn good!

  • @brendantoungate8287
    @brendantoungate8287 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Cool list!
    I have Dehumanizer over Mob Rules, as I just think Dehumanizer has the stronger tracks over all. Mob Rules is really up and down for me: "The Sign of the Southern Cross" is my favorite Dio-Sabbath track, and I love "Falling Off the Edge of the World," and "Over and Over," but none of the other tracks inspire love for me the same way as everything on Dehumanizer does (save "TV Crimes" and "Time Machine"). I grin every time Geezer's bass line to "Master of Insanity" comes on, "I" is an all-time track for me. "Letters From Earth," "Computer God," "After All (The Dead)," "Buried Alive," and "Sins of the Father" are all awesome, too.
    We do agree on the top two, though: I agree with everything that you said about Heaven And Hell; there are no bad tracks on that album. I even really dig "Walk Away," as almost a bit of an experiment to see if they could do a great job with a song like that. As for Rising, I actually disagree regarding "Do You Close Your Eyes;" that song has so many hooks fit expertly in less than 3 minutes. Not exactly something you'd expect Dio-era Rainbow to put out, but it's still done perfectly. And everything else is just epic, especially "Stargazer." I found that song a little over a week ago, going through Dio's non-solo catalogue, and it nearly melted my face off on the bus on the way to work. That record is genre-creating artistry.

    Trying to Burn the sun is the ONLY cover! LA 59(or Carolina County Ball which had the band standing on a balcony) had 2 covers. After reading his book and looking at things from a different angle, I think that album is the best of the three. Gambler Gambler from the 1st album should also get honorable mention.

    What a run he had, Rise, Long Live Rock n Roll, Heaven and Hell, Mob Rules, Holy Diver, Last In Line. His run is the greatest in rock history period.
    As the singer in the middle of a great band no one could touch him. As the leader of the band, not so much. Things started sounding too much alike after Last in Line.
    The Shed is Killer and unbelievably underrated.
    Black Sabbath with Ozzy, and Ozzy solo, Rainbow with Dio, Dio Sabbath and Dio solo account for an incredible number of excellent albums.

Albums Following A Stellar. Release")....I don't know, but to me the album seems phoned in.....In case you didn't know, Viv C himself has gone on to call this album none other than a " streaming pile of shite(Irish version!)"....
