    Buckin. You’re the man. So glad you are still with us. One hell of a guy! Your knowledge and skill blows my mind. The big saws you and your boy run make me drool! I found your channel right after I bough my 5 acres and Stihl 391. Big saw to me. I’ll be honest. Really no experience what so ever. But I managed to clear my land. 650ft driveway and the landing where the house is going to go. Multiple 100ft tall white oaks dropped. Not so hard when you don’t have anything to worry about hitting. But I made it thru it. Some of the hardest work I’ve ever done. Just wanted to say I appreciate you and everything you do and god bless! Fingers crossed one day I can work a big mean saw just like the surgeon you are!

  • @jasonhaskett6601
    @jasonhaskett6601 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ya i agree this guy knows how to fell a tree and i can tell by the way he runs a saw he does have experience. I fell timber for 19 years and I still climb and do my part. We were asked to be on "axe men" and we refused because my personal opinion is if you have a camera on you your not completely focused on the job at hand and thats when people get hurt. I have been running a saw felling and climbing for 27 years now and have always followed the wisdom that my grandfather gave me when I first started. His name is Timothy Fennimore and he told me. "Never get comfortable because thats when you get hurt.. And never think you know everything because thats when you get killed." I have instilled that same wisdom in everyone I can from timber to towers. It will save your life.

    Got a Question for you, you commented about the saw cutting at an angle, what causes that, besides operator error, and how do you correct that? I always thought is was just me being a novice operator

    • @morgunfreedom4346
      @morgunfreedom4346 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @dirtmagnet there are a few factors but most commonly uneven raker depth and uneven rails on the guide bar. If you take your bar off the saw without the chain try and set it on a flat surface on edge you can see if it's leaning, if it really bad it won't stand up at all. Hope this helps 👍

    • @BuckinBillyRaySmith
      @BuckinBillyRaySmith  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      this is a crucial point in your journey , if you want to track the problem . do what i say throw on a new chain cut with it . if it carves out its yer bar , if it cut straight its you ,, your filing . it could be a combo , but if you dont use a raker guage this is a problem , start flipping your bar after every cutting session and you will wear evenly . let me know

    Billy Ray, do you never cut the sides of a tree after you cut the first wedge out ??
    I used to do it every time I had a big tree like this one and always had a square left in exact the middle of the tree and of course spot on.
    Would love to hear/read your comment on it

    • @BuckinBillyRaySmith
      @BuckinBillyRaySmith  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      every tree is different but i will always cut middle , as i will still maintain direction intended your sides are your posts and keep tree on line the middle is dead wood , heart wood not as goos holding strength
