Scripts with STRONG female roles have been around, Disney just hasn't been looking. MTV, of all studios, has done a spectacular job of finding and writing strong female characters with the 1883, 1923 and Yellowstone series. Harrison Ford, Tom Hanks, Faith Hill, Isabel May, Tim Mcgraw, Billy Bob Thornton, Sam Elliot, Kevin Costner and even 007, Timothy Dalton, who turns in a spectacular job as a mean, greedy SOB who enjoys BDSM. But Woke Disney finds female characters nobody wants and tries to pull a movie around them with crap plots and writing. I challenge anyone, ANYONE, to watch the first four minutes of 1883 and NOT want to binge watch all ten episodes!
It's fun entertaining the "Marvelz" dynamic and interactions are the best part of the movie. MY BIG ISSUE. is the writing and pacing things are happening TOO quickly. Emotional beats aren't landing. It's under 2hrs so it's quick. Overall fun time but needed far better writing
Unfortunately the time you took to watch this Marvel trainwreck years in the making, is time you'll never get back. Marvel needs to learn to sturdy the tracks before they give the greenlight to the engineer to start the train engine. This is a Marvel pumping out shitty content, that they KNOW is shitty, as long as they're relatively on schedule so they don't lose money for Disney problem.
Meanwhile in an alternate universe, "Captain Mar-vell 2: The Kree-Skrull War" has made $250 million dollars today. See Marvel, I can play the multiverse angle too.
I was going to flip coin of watching this movie as pity for our MCU, but then people who pro this movie, the director, even Sam L Jackson middle finger me for not supporting the movie, so I decide to use 105 minutes of my life to clean my house and the money to buy Pizza.
1- Kamala Khan's back grew 5 inches after carrying this whole movie 2 - At the same time, she once again was left with a really bad villain, though I think the villain goons in her own series were still worse. I wonder if Marvel can come up with a villain that can have a good chemistry with her though, it's s though thing to do for a character that is focused in comedy quirkness, but it is possible if they build it. We've yet to see her actress interacting in a really serious and personal way with a villain though, but her being in a team now can help... Don't get me wrong though, aside the villain problem for her, she's awesome and one of the really good things in Marvel at this moment. 3 - Monica Rambeau needed more solo and reflective time in this movie, they could have cut that whole sequence in that ocean dancing planet to give more time to develop her inner thoughts and just her life in general. Even Carol Danvers needed too some, the Captain Marvel character currently looks boring, and honestly I don't even know how the director could adjust her to be interesting in this movie aside from improving the cool factor on her feats which would help very little. Captain Marvel on screen seems not to be the problem, Carol Danvers herself seems undeveloped and uninsteresting and will probably still be until we finally have her vs Rogue from the X-Men or they go into some of her weird and more questionable arcs on comics. Though for now, I can only see her being cool "again" if they nail her with Rogue. Honestly, this SHOULD be what Captain Marvel 3 should be 4- The ending felt like a good idea executed in the wrong movie. Not even poorly, just that it went like "hey me and Monica were nice as a team, so I'll get this ipad here and gather info on other teen heroes and make my own team" except they did this in 5 seconds and out of nowhere. They could have at least show Kate Bishop in a seemingly short cameo scene in the beginning of the movie on Earth just to foreshadow something, maybe a little fight on Earth where they briefly meet, anything. Also, Khamala really shouldn't be the leader forming this team... the America Chavez character would be a better fit currently 5- We can DEFINITELY expect now to see more of the young black captain america guy from the comics that is a relative to the first black captain america, I forgot his name but we saw him briefly in the falcon and the winter soldier series, he's part of the young avengers in the comics and now that it's a thing, that movie is very likely to be where he actually appears more, in the new Captain America movie that's coming.
They didn’t need to foreshadow the young avengers. They did a rehash of fury assembling the avengers which was something that mostly comic fans were excited about. So why the need for more with this?

Because from the thought of "we were great together" as the Marvels (which was just after losing a member too, so it was probably a trauma) and her actually wenting to build her own teen team... it went too fast and could have used more steps. Even if they had like 3 more minutes in that last scene just to flow the idea properly. It didn't feel natural at all.
I actually enjoyed Brie Larson more in this film than the original, but I feel Marvel made the same mistake they did in Multiverse of Madness where the main character did all the cool things in between movies and we get what would be a filler arc if this was a comic book, thought we did actually see what Carol did to set up the plot of this movie so points there, but in continuity it was 30 years ago and we are only now seeing the aftermath, we’re it would have been more likely that the citizens of whatever that Kree planet was would’ve died 5 times over if the planet became so f***ed up that they were stealing resources from other planets.
On the subject of Saturday morning cartoons, anyone ever see x-men back to back episodes and the first one ends on a cliffhanger, but the next episode was always a completely different episode instead of the pt. 2 for some reason?
Even if the movie was good, it will still fail because people are tired of superhero movies, it's not marketed to men (the main audience for superhero movies), and a lot of people don't like Brie Larson or her portrayal of Captain Marvel.
Even if one ignores the culture war stuff around this film and Brie Larson dislike, the fact that the DIRECTOR of this movie made statements that she didn't have any control, claiming it was Kevin Feige's movie, and as per the Variety article LEFT this movie during post-production to work on another project really goes to show just how much of a trainwreck this movie(and Marvel by extension) is. And the truly sad part is that this movie could have been good. Yes, I disliked Captain Marvel 1. But as a former Carol Danvers fan, I know how good of a character she once was. And you could have fixed her. For those naysayers out there, you know what my pitch for Captain Marvel 2 would have been? Just have Rogue and Mystique be the villains. Have Rogue steal Carol's powers, either depowering/ putting her in a coma and have Kamala and Monica Rambeau in it. Creates instant stakes due to Kamala liking Captain Marvel and Monica knowing Carol. You can even keep Carol in a coma(assuming Brie Larson does not want to come back) and have Monica assume the role at the end and even have Rogue survive/ imprisoned. I guarantee if you had done that, alongside humanize Carol Danvers and not make her a plank of wood, the movie could have been a sleeper hit. But nope; Marvel went with the most generic, laziest approach. I don't like talking ill of the MCU because it just makes me sad to see this franchise go down the crapper. But man, Captain Marvel 2 you could have fixed Carol Danvers. But hey; I guess I'm a ist/ phobe hating modern Carol Danvers and wanting that original character who was good to be good again.

The movies reported budget is 274 million dollars! With box office it's said they need to make 2 or 2.5 times its production budget to break even.. So it will need to make 548 million dollars, or 685 million dollars just to break even! It's reported it will make 47 to 52 million for the opening week.. that is just awful results!
The issue is it’s almost guaranteed there was a lot cut because you can see it’s ridiculously jumpy, and obvious times where you’re scratching your head saying “man, did i miss something??” There were a bunch of times it felt like I blinked because i felt super lost and a couple points in the movie. This film felt like a highlight reel and not a coherent story. It felt like if one of those youtuber recap videos got turned into a movie and this was the result. The only highlight for me was Ms. Marvel and Iman Vellani. She absolutely nailed it. Her scenes and her family were the only treats of this film. Even then Her storyline felt so cut up and incoherent. Jesus this film should’ve been scrapped

This movie was TRASH. Complete waste of time and money, having to sit with three terrible characters. Ms. Marvel was the best thing in the film, even though she's horribly written too. We can blame the comics...which are also horrible. Captain Marvel continues to be a boring, bland character. Somehow, my toilet seat has a better personality than Captain Marvel. The mid credit scene is better than the entire film. No wonder they were using superior characters in the marketing for this TRASH film like - Iron Man, Captain and Thanos. There are a lot of fair critics that didn’t go in saying this is gonna be bad all saying this is bad. On the other hand the critics that hit with the wokeness have said this isn’t filmed with feminism and some even said Bree got to show some emotion. The two sides have United in being disappointed with plot, pacing, action, structure, cliche villains and direction.

Geek, the only thing i disagree with is liking Ant-Man more. I don't like thor and i don't like Ant-man, Why? because they destroy continuity. I'd rather watch this over them. There are more questions about the Quantum Realm because of Ant-Man and Thor introduces a McGuffin that makes the infinity Gems pointless. Why didn't Thor just go to it and wish to kill Thanos? I can't stand plot devices like that.
I mostly agree with you. I loved Kamala Khan, I thought SOME of the fights were pretty cool, mostly in the beginning, but overall not a good film. I still think Eternals is the worst MCU movie so far because of how utterly pointless it felt, only really trying to set up for things that will not be payed off for years to come if at all. I at least feel like this movie will lead to something later.

Naw this movie isn't the greatest but the worst is Love and Thunder still. I put my hands over my head during half that movie and asked mself wtf is this?? Now this movie was definitely questionable. Action scenes were good and the chemistry between the three i liked but as for everything else idk if studio interference happened. Went in with low expectations and you know what i liked it in moments.

I actually really love Iron Man 2 I never understood why people hated it.
I think Iron Man 2 has some weird story things happening, but yeah, I never thought it was the worst MCU film like some do.

The movies reported budget is 274 million dollars!
With box office it's said they need to make 2 or 2.5 times its production budget to break even..
So it will need to make 548 million dollars, or 685 million dollars just to break even! It's reported it will make 47 to 52 million for the opening week.. that is just awful results!

The issue is it’s almost guaranteed there was a lot cut because you can see it’s ridiculously jumpy, and obvious times where you’re scratching your head saying “man, did i miss something??” There were a bunch of times it felt like I blinked because i felt super lost and a couple points in the movie. This film felt like a highlight reel and not a coherent story. It felt like if one of those youtuber recap videos got turned into a movie and this was the result.
The only highlight for me was Ms. Marvel and Iman Vellani. She absolutely nailed it. Her scenes and her family were the only treats of this film. Even then Her storyline felt so cut up and incoherent. Jesus this film should’ve been scrapped

Purging wokeness does not a creative studio make. I can't stand wokeness, but the reality is that if you remove it, a lot of these so-called writers have nothing left. It sounds like this movie proved that. I'll pass on torturing myself. Thanks for the review, Danny.

This movie was TRASH. Complete waste of time and money, having to sit with three terrible characters. Ms. Marvel was the best thing in the film, even though she's horribly written too. We can blame the comics...which are also horrible. Captain Marvel continues to be a boring, bland character. Somehow, my toilet seat has a better personality than Captain Marvel. The mid credit scene is better than the entire film. No wonder they were using superior characters in the marketing for this TRASH film like - Iron Man, Captain and Thanos. They're trying everything they can to save this dumpster fire of a film. Instead of focusing on better characters, better stories, we get this film.🤦♂️MCU should have ended with Endgame.

The movies isn’t the worse, go see it for yourself and stop listening to TH-camrs on what is good and what’s not. Just because a movie isn’t your taste doesn’t mean it’s bad. I’ve read many critics and some give the movie 8/10 and some 0/5, and there lies the problem, these critics view a movie from their perspective. When a movie is genuinely bad, majority can point out similar issues. After reading many of the reviews, it’s like they got a personal problem with Disney. Go see the movie and stop listening to critics tell YOU if a movie is good or not

I don't like thor and i don't like Ant-man, Why? because they destroy continuity.

I mostly agree with you. I loved Kamala Khan, I thought SOME of the fights were pretty cool, mostly in the beginning, but overall not a good film. I still think Eternals is the worst MCU movie so far because of how utterly pointless it felt, only really trying to set up for things that will not be payed off for years to come if at all. I at least feel like this movie will lead to something later.

Naw this movie isn't the greatest but the worst is Love and Thunder still. I put my hands over my head during half that movie and asked mself wtf is this?? Now this movie was definitely questionable. Action scenes were good and the chemistry between the three i liked but as for everything else idk if studio interference happened. Went in with low expectations and you know what i liked it in moments.
