Shout out to Starsector, the best space simulator in the market, sadly it is not availible on any platform, you have to go to its own website, but trust me, for 15 bucks, it's the best game you'll ever play
Starsector is amazing! With some mods it's surpreme! Best $15 dollars I ever spend on a space game. Also keep an eye on Ephemeris. It's an RTS that blends the in-detail combat from Homeworld 1, unit moral & tactics from Total War, 4X grander strategy similar to Empire At War. Their under-promoted kickstarter didn't succeed. but they release to early access next year anyway.
Underspace is one of the best things to happen to the space sim market in years. Something as easy to pick up and play as Freelancer with practically zero need to learn controls or intricacies of how the game works. And the universe is genuinely insanely creative.
Thanks to you, I recently bought Everspace 2 and I'm having so much fun that I'll definitely buy the first installment to support the creators. I also have Chorus waiting to be played, also thanks to you recommending this game. We're waiting for more lists, because you're doing a great job!

Rebel Galaxy mentioned! I almost overlooked this game for being a space game on a 2D plane (basically spaceships acting like boats) but the gameplay was really fun and it really didn't need the full 3D movement. Highly recommend if you want fun broadsider combat without too many complicated mechanics. Also amazing soundtrack!

I even own a few of them and haven't played in eons. With holidays free time coming up, I'm jumping on a few of those now! Thanks for the prod!
Stellaris is also on sale, at $3.99 right now. It's a 4x Empire Sim between many custom space empire and galaxy wide crisis events. It is a paradox game so the EA of RTS games but you can get the worthwhile DLC on sale too. The base game is fun though.
Shout out for Empyrion and the No Man's Land server! Love all the games you've posted, I've got most of them in my library, but been binging on Empyrion for a while now!
As a member of the Starship Evo community I must mention that the game currently only has Creative mode for all players. Survival mode is in a testing phase and is only available to people who have applied to enter it. The developer of the game has said that when the game exits early access he will include survival mode for everyone, when exactly that happens is a little up in the air. Still if you are very creative and love building ships the game has the best building system I have ever seen in any voxel based building game.
I own so many of these and don't know when I'll find the time to really master any of them. I'm thinking about trying to load and finish Chorus first, and then give Spacebourne 2 a run. I won't have the patience to play the sandbox ones right now.

I have 720 hours in it and all I ever did was get lost after I built my capital ships. Did they add more story to the game? Last time, I recall finishing with some goofy quest about root beer.
Also. Not on steam. But starcitizen just today released 4.0 to live. Massively expanded game area 500 people per server. Huge gameplay improvements and just a bunch of game to play. With more detail and immersion then any of the games here.

Because they don't care what the player wants, it's their choice not yours.
@Linrox I think you're missing the point that you don't own any games you buy ever now. No matter where you get them from. Check the fine print man it's sad it's just the way it is
@@jcollura6766 not true. If you buy your games from GOG then you can install any version you downloaded anytime you want. even if it is not the current version. Provided you the backup the downloads. and no internet required. For some games i have every version. and all patches
2:40 4:10 Topdown games not a Simulation games (though Starcom is enjoyable so far). Id also argue that 3rd person (1:27) games are also not *really* simulation games.
Id argue this is totally wrong. Star Sector is a Space Sim. The perspective doesn't matter.
Don't buy space engineers its being abandoned and you need to have 200€ dlcs to actually get playable
Your kidding right!!??
