I also missed "Store of Knowledge", that was a great store to explore arts, educational books, VHS tapes of PBS Shows and more! Every PBS affiliates became a part of the Store of Knowledge including KCET. I've been to the one in Glendale Galleria, Woodland Hills and in Clackamas, Oregon, which is OPB.
There was one for KTCA at the Mall of America. I went there once when I was a kid, and I still have the glow in the dark stars we got there (and they still glow 20+ years later!). That was such a cool store.

The one I most remember out of all these promos was the Solvo one, where the girl is trying to figure out if Jupiter has a moon and at the end of it all she asks "But what did Solvo do?" and the announcer says "Absolutely nothing!" and the girl is all "Dafuq?!" LOL that just always stuck in my head all these years!

Hard to believe this was 20 years ago! I was watching KCET at the time too for shows like "Sesame Street", "The Puzzle Place", "Bill Nye : The Science Guy", "Where In Time is Carmen Sandiego?", "Mister Rogers Neighborhood", The Magic School Bus", "Shining Time Station" and more!
Joseph A. Sobora I was 3 years old in 1997, and I remember all of those shows! Good times, those were. I hope I'm able to find more VHS tapes with those shows on them!
@@bradyanderson6311 And for me, I remember watching the PTV Park promo for Shining Time Station on KCET with the extended theme song music video in it during one of the program breaks maybe from 1997 or 1998 (the footages from seasons 2 and 3 with Thomas story episodes). It was after an old rerun of Barney entitled If The Shoe Fits.... from season 3 before The Puzzle Place.

Do you suppose you could upload the programs themselves on TH-cam or Internet Archive? I'm just asking because some of the closings for WITICS look like they're from episode that were not uploaded on TH-cam.
Dang, pretty nice collection going on here! KCET is such an interesting case of a PBS station to me, it was the primary one for a long time yet it's the only one in LA (of what was originally FOUR!) that fell off the air. You'd think one of the smaller ones like KVCR (can I say that's my favorite callsign ever?) or KLCS would go first. I guess that also makes KCET content a bit valuable these days too; I have to wonder if it being the flagship station would make it more or less valuable than secondary stations that are no longer PBS-affiliated (such as KDTN in Dallas). Also, wow, that makes two of us with that "All My Adults" bumper! I didn't think I would see that show up anywhere else! Yours is a bit more vanilla too, no station ident plastered onto it. How do you find these tapes, exactly? eBay, thrifting, some other source I'm unaware of? I've considered asking friends if they have tapes, but I'm too socially anxious for that...oy.
VaultHS Thank you! I looked around here on TH-cam for any PTV-related stuff that aired on KCET, but nothing showed up that I could find. And I must say, I love the KVCR call sign also! Finding this was an unexpected surprise! Well, not really unexpected, the tape label literally said "Billy Nye & Kratts' Creatures", so not that unexpected. I find these on eBay. I mostly pay attention to the labels on the VHS taps in the listing. If any of them have any PBS-related stuff that aired before 2000, I but them. One lot I bough had over 30 VHS tapes with nothing but PBS on them, all from the '80s too! Some of the content from them are on my channel. It's content from WNET. In the case of the VHS lot that had this tape, the label, like I said above, read "Bill Nye & Kratts' Creatures". So my advice to you is look at the tape labels for any content that interests you. Tapes with no labels are always fun also, you never know what you're going to get! One of them had Playboy on it, so there's that. 😅 By the way, I have another lot of VHS tapes coming soon from your home state, Texas. One of the labels on one of the tapes read "Wishbone #4", so I assume 'Wishbone' will be on it? We'll find out soon!
Oooh, nice. I guess I just don't eyeball eBay quite enough, I do check once in a while but I guess to find the good stuff you have to keep a REALLY sharp eye on it. I just don't have that kind of dedication, haha. I have run across the thrift store tapes though, which is how I have retro central Texas content. I'm thinking of taking a day trip to College Station (yes, that's an actual name of a town) this weekend to go thrifting, so maybe I'll find some Brazos Valley content. Taking a day trip to Austin for thrifting has also been on my mind for quite a while. And yeah, looking forward to that! Those tapes could be from literally anywhere due to how many major areas Texas has (San Antonio, Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth, and Houston immediately spring to mind as what it's most likely to be; course there's plenty of smaller areas too, like El Paso, Rio Grande, Lubbock, Amarillo, Waco, College Station, Beaumont...you get the picture). Regardless of where it is, I'm looking forward to seeing it!

Holy flying heck! Assuming that guy has lived there long enough, you might have scored some KNCT content! That's literally right near the broadcast tower for KNCT! I am DEFINITELY looking forward to seeing that in that case! No confirmation it's going to actually have been from there of course, but egad, I can't wait to find out. Even if it's from a different station, I'm still interested in which one it is.

Heh, funny you say that; I was born only a year after you and my memories of PTV are actually faint at best. Although really I think my best memories are of very late PTV and early PBSK. That just makes it all the more amusing that all my remaining PBS recordings are from the PTV era.
VaultHS I remember PTV well; not very well, but well enough. I used to have recordings of it and PBS Kids, but were sadly disposed of, along with other VHS tapes, because of my dad. :/ He claimed he didn't think I'd ever touch them again, but I ended up asking about them in 2008. I think he threw them out in 2006 or something. I really hate that he done that, but it's alright. I think that moment is what's kinda "fueling" my hobby for VHS collecting, especially when it comes to PBS.

Not all PBS stations had a Store of Knowledge-- I know KQED in SF didn't have one. On the other hand, KTEH in SJ DID have a SoK.
