I’ve been working on gun disarms w a friend who’s very well trained in pistol use. This technique (and other non-kenpo ones I’ve seen) all feature a 1-handed grip. None of them have worked against a 2-handed grip. It’s much harder to disarm and we end up fighting over the gun. I prefer to strike under the chin w a rising backfist instead of an eye slice during the 1st step and control the back of the gun w my left hand in case I have to follow up with another strike. Otherwise it’s very easiy for the gunman to pull the weapon out of your hand. (food for thought)
As a long time kenpo practitioner, I highly advise against following anything said and/or done in the explanation of this technique. It will ABSOLUTELY get you hurt. It's over explained, not done in street fashion, and the dangers are not fully explained.
You don’t have your hands at your side . Your hands will be up and saying don’t hurt me , this will place your hands closer to disarm.
Which would be even faster IF you keep your hands within his zone of security.

Feels like this one should be given the paintball test...
All disarms should be given the paintball (of even better, airsoft) Test. This works.

As another longtime kenpoist, why do you say that? A friend of mine used a variation of this in a real situation
have you ever done this in a real life situation?
A friend of mine did against a guy with a 2-handed grip.
Good One
