Now I have a dumb question. Is it only my experience that as a kid my father left his deer rifle in the corner of the room, showed me the gun as a toddler, and told me "Son, don't touch this. Its not a toy and can seriously hurt you or someone else" for a few years? I never once picked up or got close to that gun. I get safe storage and all but..are we so inept at learning OR teaching each other that we have to rely on safety devices? Here every gun is registered, making your own firearm is a serious crime, individuals can sell guns to each other only in the presence of a police officer who makes records, and the gun must be locked up in a safe unless it is in use. Handguns are prohibited (except for competition use and you don't technically own those handguns).
Hear is my gun control wish list. All military personnel armed at all times just like when were in Iraq and Afghanistan. I live outside the city limits in a nice subdivision. One of our neighbors lives on his own property and shoots safely. Every time he does some jerk calls the law on him. Two sheriffs, an ambulance, and a firetruck show up every time.

We wouldn't have so much gun crime, and thus calls for gun control, if we didn't create criminals out of drug users. We saw the same thing happen with organized crime during alcohol prohibition, but apparently people didn't learn that prohibition doesn't work. Demand doesn't go away because you make something illegal, it just shifts the suppliers from legal taxpaying businesses to criminal organizations and wastes a ton of public funding trying to stop them.

Now I have a dumb question. Is it only my experience that as a kid my father left his deer rifle in the corner of the room, showed me the gun as a toddler, and told me "Son, don't touch this. Its not a toy and can seriously hurt you or someone else" for a few years? I never once picked up or got close to that gun. I get safe storage and all but..are we so inept at learning OR teaching each other that we have to rely on safety devices?
Personally I'd keep a rifle or shotgun in my room when I get one, semi-loaded and ready for the unthinkable (hopefully never comes!). It's just a tool. Not a monster.
Regular viewer/listener here from Russia. The USA was always been these gun owners paradise in our eyes. Here's hoping it'll stay that way at least to some degree. Canada set a very bad example. Here every gun is registered, making your own firearm is a serious crime, individuals can sell guns to each other only in the presence of a police officer who makes records, and the gun must be locked up in a safe unless it is in use. Handguns are prohibited (except for competition use and you don't technically own those handguns).
Hear is my gun control wish list. All military personnel armed at all times just like when were in Iraq and Afghanistan. No employers alowed to tell employees not convited of a violent felony that they can't carry at work. All federal and state gun laws repealed. A law requiring that all military equipment be sold to the public with a disclaimer that misuse could lead to death or dismemberment.

4 reasons gun control is pointless
1. Most gun deaths are related to drugs/ drug deals so what we really need is DRUG CONTROL
2. Criminals don’t follow gun laws
3. With of over 300 million registered guns in America, 10-15,000 (mostly gang/ drug related) deaths per year is minuscule
