Because it's not wasting time to him. For many people including me, it's fun because the chances of getting a wheat penny on the end are low. Getting an ender can also be an indication of a good box.

Man you know I used to keep my copper but spacing issue made it too much and I sold all of it a while back. Nice finding that 33-d! I've only found one of those, and those 31, 32, 33 wheats are hard to get.
