Thank you Brent for sharing all of your information with us. I consider your website a tube Bible.

I just got 2 1944 ken rad tubes with the black glass vt-231 JAN-CKR-6SN7GT markings on black base. Diagonal plates. It has T4 vertically marked on base (was told that was for 1944). They sound pretty good imo. If anyone is interested, I can expand on the sound.

@David Goffin They make the soundstage wider but don't hurt the imaging. Kind of round off the highs a bit, but deeper base. It is a warm tube, but doesn't give too much clarity away. I use them with my focal elex mostly because they compliment them very well.

@David Goffin I tried to link you one I found on ebay, but i guess youtube doesn't like those links. I looked through my other 6sn7 tubes and have a couple more suggestions for what you are looking for. Westinghouse/reliatron early 50's with a D-getter, silver top and if you can find it the 52 sylvania 3 hole "badboy". The Westinghouse is close to the sound I think your looking for if you can't find the kenrad. I know it can be expensive rolling tubes, so I thought I would pass some info on.

I love the Sylvania 6SN7 GT and GTA. Nice sweet sound. The RCA 5692 Red Base is not bad. But I was lucky enough to get my hands on 2 sets of Pope 6SN7 GTs. 😬
Got them for my Cary SLP-05

fantastic - I have learned from Yt video including Mullard factory doc that tubes are as arcane in manufacture as loudspeakers are simple - my favourite amp a 52 Gibson GA 40 employs these tubes - now I know what era RCAs I have in there. One Chinese in there and that bothers me - indeed why does this amp use 3 such tibes?
Anything to say on Magnatone M8 - 7189As at high plate voltage - true, that only RCA nos is reliable? Other issue: Teisco ap 14 (6AR5, single ended) - wondering whether I should employ solid state plug in (6X4) rectifier equivalent, thus lose sag, & gain playing volume - will it ruin crazy wet tone these things make? again great video

Ok. Great tubes and I own all of these presented in this video. Moreover I own even the Tung Sol 'smoke glass' with the square mica on top, extremely rare and rarest than the Tung Sol presented here. But by now I prefer the Chinese 6SN7 'tennis ball' shape that perform better or far better than all glorious tubes shown here. Try them if you want

Putting rare NOS tubes in hi-fi is denying future musicians who are the source of the music... Sweet sounding tubes in guitar amps inspire talented musicians to create timeless moments. NOS tubes in hi-fi just inspires worthless cork sniffer talk. STOP and THINK before you cross the road, and likewise, STOP and THINK before you deny tomorrow's talent an inspirational tube that could give millions joy, instead of selfishly using it in hi-fi to be enjoyed by one or two. Thank you for reading!

so Paul ... we have to listen to music only from solid state amps because if we use tube amps we become cork sniffers? ? wow.....
