today i watched the one direction this is us movie and....wow there was so much there that i didnt see....i mean Zayn was barely in there...zayn was always left alone and i didnt see him having the fun with the boys...i mean i think other boys were extroverted outgoing personality and zayn was introverted and so polite and shy...they just didnt mesh up together and i do think harry and zayn werent close because sometimes friend groups are like that you get along as a group but if you leave two individuals together they just dont get along......i think louis and liam and niall were the good friends and harry and xayn were kinda the outsiders.......and dont even get me statrted on the management...these bys were 16 when they were picked up and went around the world for 2 freaking years without seeing their family....i cant imagine what zayn would have felt like knowing he felt like he didnt belong there.....i felt sad when in the movie he never got out of bed and slept and wanted tp be left alone because i think it was telltale signs of early depression...and you can see how they micromanaged everything from the way boys dressed,sang,danced etc...also i dont know why zayn smoking weed was such a big deal...zayn is muslim and he doesnt drinks alcohol like everyone else...the only other way to get kicks os to smoke weed...

I have some friends that I haven't spoke to over a year now but I text them every now and then. He's probably just bad at communicating like me.

Its not about him leaving or not, I personally dont blame him for leaving, because he is also a human and feels things, what I am not okay with is him saying " that wasn't music" or " me and harry were never really close" its not about leaving or having a solo career its about respecting where you come from. I am very happy and proud of how far he has come but, that does not mean some of the words he said are okay or should be justified.

it always showed, honestly. from the beginning, you could tell zayn was the odd-one-out. we never really saw him as himself. he was quiet, sort of the “mysterious” one. he definitely opened up a little more once the band became as worldwide as it did, but this interview really just confirmed it all. compare the music one direction makes, to what zayn makes now. they aren’t similar at all. plus, speaking of comparing, compare this interview to the ones while he was in one direction. he’s so much more open, so raw with what he’s saying. i know there were 4 other boys he needed to share the interviews with, but when he got his turns to speak, it was always very vague. he wasn’t getting a say so in one direction at all- the other boys were putting up with it, but he obviously couldn’t. now, i love one direction with my whole heart. that’s why i’m here. but leaving the band was one of the best decisions he’s ever made- he is making music for himself. i will forever be proud of the little boy from bradford, for making the decision that is best for him. we also have to keep in mind that leaving wasn’t easy for him either! he was only 17 when one direction formed on the x-factor. he grew up with those boys. it wrenches my heart that he had to go a separate way, but i’m so happy the boys respected it. but- will i fight for that one direction reunion with all of those 5 boys who own my heart? yes, yes i will.

In my opinion he never left because of the boys. I think the boys were never the reason. I think it's just what he said, he didn't like how and what kind of music they made so he just made the decision to go. We all know and could see that they were good friends at some point. I know that people will say it could have all been for show but if so then the other members wouldn't have cared he left would they? I don't know what his relationship is with the boys but I hope, differences and past problems aside, they can all be friends and colleagues in their respective jobs. Maybe they'll collaborate or something in the future. Or at least friends because honestly those five years together shouldn't have been just in vain, Zayn shouldn't just leave them out of his life entirely since they were there for so long with him.

Aimee Whelan what's wrong with that? I agree he should have handled the departure better. He should have say the boys down and let them know and then played out the tour. What hurts me the most is the fact that he stayed for the boys... you could see when they were doing the promo for the FOUR album, Zayn already looked like he wasn't himself... very different from the early days when he would be loud and make jokes all the time. He never hated the boys, he hated being in the band. He loves the boys so much and he even said it himself. There management was just too hard for him. Being in the band has affected his mental health and caused him eating disorders. Of course he hated the stress of it. None of his ideas also matched in the " 1D songs criteria" so he had to put his ego aside for YEARS and stayed in the band for the boys. He could've left earlier If he wanted to, he could finally express his own style of music that always got rejected by management. But he didn't. And the thing that hurts most on top of all of that is the fact that he hid his pain so well, the guys didn't even realize he hated being in the band that much. I quote Harry " I guess we didn't realize he hated being in the band that much." He's been through so much yet he's still so strong and he does not deserve the hate. People keep saying he isn't grateful to be apart of 1D but he really is. Infact, he has a special wall in his house... dedicated to all his 1D memories.
when I first saw this interview, I was flabbergasted, but then I saw they were sitting on like chairs, and I had a throwback moment of the video diaries. with the boy and kevin, and 99/100 things the boys do are never coincidences, and then I was found dead. smh
When he’s said he didn’t want to be in the band, he didn’t mean the boys...he loved those boys with all his heart, but the music the rules and the restrictions that comes with being in a boy and never appealed to him. He loves spending time with the boys, and I personally believe the only reason he said he never talked to Harry etc was because he needed to get rid of his boy band image. Cut off ties and the only way he knew how to do that was to anger the directioners and break their hearts all at once. Also because boy bands have certain images to uphold and a certain audience to cater to, he realized that his music the type he loved and wanted to share would never be accepted. And he was just tired. He never wanted to hurt the boys, but and I’m not trying to sound high and mighty or something, but I understand him. This was something he needed to do because he was slipping further into not his depression. Yes he is depressed. A depressed person never admits that they are depressed. But his eating order and attitude in general proved it. He realized his anxiety depression and eating order would become worse, and even though it broke his heart he realized this is what he had to do. And eventually did. Do even though she me directioners still have a grudge with him, be happy he is still giving you some type of music. Because ,and I study psychology , him being in the band much longer would have led to eventual suicide.

This ended up being one of the best decisions for him at least in my eyes. even though it seemed sad at the time, he was struggling and he needed to do something before it got even worse.
Boom ds Harry was one of the ones that was really hurt by him leaving. The reason he stay in the band so long is because of his love for those boys. It always bothered me how people blamed him but never thought about how he felt emotionally and physically about everything from being in a band and then leaving. Harry just doesn’t like to talk about not because he still hates Zayn but because none of them ever talked about it together as a band. Simon included. If they all can get together one day and talk about everything from what Zayn was feeling through those years to how the boys felt after he left. Then, we could possibly start seeing them hangout together again.

i have anxiety too and i really do understand him, like i feel like he wanted to be there, with the boy’s and stuff but i mean, it would be overwhelming and he wasn’t into the type of music they were making & if it was me i’d be so stressed all the time, i think we should be proud of zayn for pushing through it for those 4 years, and we should also be proud of him for leaving and moving on to something that he was more comfortable and happier doing, knowing that he might let down people but following his heart. i think we underestimate the amount of courage he has sometimes, i am so proud of him.

i’m honestly so proud of him. he knew what he wanted from the start and i’m so glad he was able to put his own music out. i dont listen to him, but dealing with depression (which we all know he had like cmon) is hard and this was definitely the best decision he could’ve made. mental health should always come first.

Eh personally I think Niall Horan has the BEST music out of ALL of them, he is better than Zayn too. I only have Niall's new debut cd I pre ordered I don't have any of the other lad's cd's especially NOT Zayn's. Zayn congratulated them on their first single and they didn't even acknowledged him. He even thanked them when he won his first award as a solo artist. Why should he have congratulated them on their singles when they didn't do the same to him. I swear some directioners act like they know everything. It's 2020 and I still feel like so many people dont understand what he means by not wanting to be in the band. He isnt saying that he isnt grateful for all the opportunities they got or that he disliked every part of it. He's simply trying to explain that this wasnt the music he wanted to make. That he felt trapped because he couldnt be the artist he wanted to be and therefore couldnt stay true to himself. Not to mention his anxiety disorder. He auditioned for the xfactor because he wanted to be a singer, he never could have imagined ending up in the biggest boyband of literally all time or getting recognised and mobbed constantly.

Ik how zayn feels when he said “I think I always wanted to leave”, because being around people that you know you don’t necessarily fit in with is hard. Especially when it seems everyone is interested in one thing and you aren’t too interested in that. He must have felt so out of place at times. I remember being in debate and feeling so out of place at times, even though I liked it and the people liked me and I liked them, but I knew I didn’t truly fit in with them. I believe that’s how zayn felt.

But even when it was his turn he never spoke THIS honestly. I love 1D with my whole heart, and this was the best decision he ever made. Real fans don’t blame this on him. This man deserves better, he really enjoys spending time with Harry, Niall, Liam and Louis, but he didn't enjoyed being in One Direction. it always showed, honestly. from the beginning, you could tell zayn was the odd-one-out. we never really saw him as himself. he was quiet, sort of the “mysterious” one. he definitely opened up a little more once the band became as worldwide as it did, but this interview really just confirmed it all. compare the music one direction makes, to what zayn makes now. they aren’t similar at all.
plus, speaking of comparing, compare this interview to the ones while he was in one direction. he’s so much more open, so raw with what he’s saying. i know there were 4 other boys he needed to share the interviews with, but when he got his turns to speak, it was always very vague. he wasn’t getting a say so in one direction at all- the other boys were putting up with it, but he obviously couldn’t.
now, i love one direction with my whole heart. that’s why i’m here. but leaving the band was one of the best decisions he’s ever made- he is making music for himself. i will forever be proud of the little boy from bradford, for making the decision that is best for him.
we also have to keep in mind that leaving wasn’t easy for him either! he was only 17 when one direction formed on the x-factor. he grew up with those boys. it wrenches my heart that he had to go a separate way, but i’m so happy the boys respected it.

In my opinion he never left because of the boys. I think the boys were never the reason. I think it's just what he said, he didn't like how and what kind of music they made so he just made the decision to go. We all know and could see that they were good friends at some point. I know that people will say it could have all been for show but if so then the other members wouldn't have cared he left would they? I don't know what his relationship is with the boys but I hope, differences and past problems aside, they can all be friends and colleagues in their respective jobs. Maybe they'll collaborate or something in the future. Or at least friends because honestly those five years together shouldn't have been just in vain, Zayn shouldn't just leave them out of his life entirely since they were there for so long with him.

What hurts me the most is the fact that he stayed for the boys... you could see when they were doing the promo for the FOUR album, Zayn already looked like he wasn't himself... very different from the early days when he would be loud and make jokes all the time. He never hated the boys, he hated being in the band. He loves the boys so much and he even said it himself. There management was just too hard for him. Being in the band has affected his mental health and caused him eating disorders. Of course he hated the stress of it. None of his ideas also matched in the " 1D songs criteria" so he had to put his ego aside for YEARS and stayed in the band for the boys. He could've left earlier If he wanted to, he could finally express his own style of music that always got rejected by management. But he didn't. And the thing that hurts most on top of all of that is the fact that he hid his pain so well, the guys didn't even realize he hated being in the band that much. I quote Harry " I guess we didn't realize he hated being in the band that much." He's been through so much yet he's still so strong and he does not deserve the hate. People keep saying he isn't grateful to be apart of 1D but he really is. Infact, he has a special wall in his house... dedicated to all his 1D memories.

When he’s said he didn’t want to be in the band, he didn’t mean the boys...he loved those boys with all his heart, but the music the rules and the restrictions that comes with being in a boy and never appealed to him.
He loves spending time with the boys, and I personally believe the only reason he said he never talked to Harry etc was because he needed to get rid of his boy band image. Cut off ties and the only way he knew how to do that was to anger the directioners and break their hearts all at once.
Also because boy bands have certain images to uphold and a certain audience to cater to, he realized that his music the type he loved and wanted to share would never be accepted. And he was just tired. He never wanted to hurt the boys, but and I’m not trying to sound high and mighty or something, but I understand him. This was something he needed to do because he was slipping further into not his depression. Yes he is depressed. A depressed person never admits that they are depressed. But his eating order and attitude in general proved it.
He realized his anxiety depression and eating order would become worse, and even though it broke his heart he realized this is what he had to do.
And eventually did. Do even though she me directioners still have a grudge with him, be happy he is still giving you some type of music. Because ,and I study psychology , him being in the band much longer would have led to eventual suicide.
Well said! He had to do this for himself which probably wasn’t easy because he had no idea how everyone would react or what his future would look like from then on. This ended up being one of the best decisions for him at least in my eyes. even though it seemed sad at the time, he was struggling and he needed to do something before it got even worse.

Boom ds Harry was one of the ones that was really hurt by him leaving. The reason he stay in the band so long is because of his love for those boys. It always bothered me how people blamed him but never thought about how he felt emotionally and physically about everything from being in a band and then leaving. Harry just doesn’t like to talk about not because he still hates Zayn but because none of them ever talked about it together as a band. Simon included. If they all can get together one day and talk about everything from what Zayn was feeling through those years to how the boys felt after he left. Then, we could possibly start seeing them hangout together again.

i have anxiety too and i really do understand him, like i feel like he wanted to be there, with the boy’s and stuff but i mean, it would be overwhelming and he wasn’t into the type of music they were making & if it was me i’d be so stressed all the time, i think we should be proud of zayn for pushing through it for those 4 years, and we should also be proud of him for leaving and moving on to something that he was more comfortable and happier doing, knowing that he might let down people but following his heart. i think we underestimate the amount of courage he has sometimes, i am so proud of him.

i’m honestly so proud of him. he knew what he wanted from the start and i’m so glad he was able to put his own music out. i dont listen to him, but dealing with depression (which we all know he had like cmon) is hard and this was definitely the best decision he could’ve made. mental health should always come first.

Zayn congratulated them on their first single and they didn't even acknowledged him. He even thanked them when he won his first award as a solo artist. Why should he have congratulated them on their singles when they didn't do the same to him. I swear some directioners act like they know everything. Always trying to make it seem like Zayn is the bad guy, but forgetting when they shaded him too.
He DID leave the rest of them in the lurch in the middle of their tour to create his own single so it is understandable that they weren't excited or supportive of the music he left them to make.

It's 2020 and I still feel like so many people dont understand what he means by not wanting to be in the band.
He isnt saying that he isnt grateful for all the opportunities they got or that he disliked every part of it. He's simply trying to explain that this wasnt the music he wanted to make. That he felt trapped because he couldnt be the artist he wanted to be and therefore couldnt stay true to himself. Not to mention his anxiety disorder. He auditioned for the xfactor because he wanted to be a singer, he never could have imagined ending up in the biggest boyband of literally all time or getting recognised and mobbed constantly.
omg his pain in his voice, it wasnt just the music he struggled with and thats why he was about to cry, he only later on hinted his anxiety and eating disorder and how bad the racism he was receiving

Ik how zayn feels when he said “I think I always wanted to leave”, because being around people that you know you don’t necessarily fit in with is hard. Especially when it seems everyone is interested in one thing and you aren’t too interested in that. He must have felt so out of place at times. I remember being in debate and feeling so out of place at times, even though I liked it and the people liked me and I liked them, but I knew I didn’t truly fit in with them. I believe that’s how zayn felt.

I think he meant he didn’t want to be in the band, not because of the members, but because of the whole environment. His music now is so different, and I’m sure he would rather have done a different style of music. It was stressful. He was clearly depressed, had an eating disorder and anxiety. The management team pushed them so much.
In this interview his whole conversation was so raw. So honest.
Normally in interviews with 1D he was incredibly vague. Yes, he had to share with 4 others. But even when it was his turn he never spoke THIS honestly.
I love 1D with my whole heart, and this was the best decision he ever made. Real fans don’t blame this on him. Real fans- not saying you aren’t a fan, I mean in general- are happy he left. Because if it makes him happier, that’s fine.the boy band style wasn’t for him. And I respect him so much it’s unreal. Pop isn’t what he wants.
He had the time of his life with Hazza, Lou, Nialler and Payno. But it was too much for him.
