Avoid smoking, drugs, alcohol, junk food, sodas, processed foods, sugar, lifting heavy things. Eat vegetables, fruits, antioxidants and alkaline foods as opposite to acidic. Contrast showers (2 minutes hot, 2 minutes cold). Deep breathing. Yoga, 20-30 minutes walks, streching, try to improve posture. Do not sit or stand for too long. Positive thinking and gratefulness. Hi. See - allopathy science wise : varicocele is more of a mechanical valve damage issue. And not seen many reversals without embolization or surgery. But have heard anecdotal case reports. And if it's early grade and semen is normal, then worth a try to do lifestyle changes and yoga.

@shahidansari3291 usually it takes 6 weeks for normalization. Intercourse is usually allowed after 4-6 weeks. But confirm from ur surgeon.

Weights and push ups are not allowed. As they do lead to pressure increase in belly and abdomen. With a very good trainer who can train muscles with weights in isolation and good scrotal support, you can do it. But rare. Better not to risk.

what about biking? it is a cardio activity but also it causes big efforts down the abdominals. Also you're sitting down on a delicate zone and create a lot of warm conditions there
Yes. So overall cycling is fine. But not too vigorous. More for the legs than for the abdomen. And not cycles where the testis will be warm and pressured.
You can not do biking, biking will develop your varicocele dramatically.
Sir, i have varicocele on my left testicle for the past 10 years. 10 yeaes ago it was grade 1 (had a doppler). I went to have a check in July 2023 and the urologist said that its still grade 1 just by checking. From 2013 till now. Following changes have happend:
1. I have recently (started a few months ago) developled very mild pain below on my left chest. Under the 4th rib from the bottom.
2. I tried to donate blood this year a few months ago. Mainly platlets to someone. Had a blood test. Found that i cant because of High ALT production (137) of my liver. I do feel very mild pain on the right side where my liver is supposed to be. Recently developed.
3. I do feel uncomfortable standing for long (lower back pain). I slouch and slide into sitting on the chair with my lower back hallowed.
4. I have lower back pain.
5. I have developed flatulence alot. Always have a bloated stomach. Gas whenever i eat something.
6. Lower back pain and feeling tired every day waking up.
My lifestyle:
1. I have a maintained a healthy lifestyle for as long as i can remember. No smoking, drinking, no sexual partners, un married. I have done a lot of masturbation though. The frequency has gone down to once a month. I do calisthenics, muscle ups, inverted rows etc. No gym. Run 2 km every other day. I am 34 years old. I eat varaity seasonal fruits everyday.
Need help and your guidance in knowing whether is my condition worsening and leading to heart attacks.
I understand that valve damage is the main thing. It is irreversible. We can only delay the process by adapting to healthy lifestyle. Surgeries do not stop the valve damage. Valves damage slowly even if your lifestyle is healthy. A disease will eventually catch up. I need help.

Uncle I am 15, I also have grade 1 varicocele. Can I do BODYWEIGHT pushups and BODYWEIGHT squats ? I do about 120(total) pushups and 90(total) bodyweight squats. I workout thrice a week. I also do SHADOW boxing for 5-7 mins everyday. Everything in the park, never went to the gym.

Hi. Grade 1 doesn't need surgery or embolization usually. As chances that it may cause semen issues or testes damage or hormone production r low. But it's still varicocele and would soon progress.
1) Be sure it's grade 1 and ultrasound was done in standing position also with valsalva maneouver.
2) whatever shown in the video - that can be done. No gymming or pressure exercises. And yoga plus good scrotal support helps.
Few antioxidant medications like daflon do help. Take them under prescription and supervision.

It is sometimes frustrating as even grade 1 varicocele sooner or later progresses. So, rule is - no need to treat grade 1. And if it becomes grade 2 or 3 or 4, treat it. And it would progress to 2,3,4 sooner or later. Haha. Ironical. Not suggesting that we start treating grade 1. But yes - follow all precautions to prevent it from progressing.

I have seen some videos in which some dr's are suggesting for cold shower, some are suggesting for hot/ warm shower. Can you please clarify which one is better in case of vericocele.? And also your opinion on effect of OMEGA-3 fatty acid over vericocele.

Thank you for the comment. Usually cold showers or packs r known to reduce pain due to varicocele. Overall- cold or hot showers: both will not change the root cause (damaged valves). Few pathies like acupuncture recommend hot showers. So, opinions r different. Even contrast bath is known to help (alternate cold and hot showers) - to relax and contract veins and pump blood up. So, won't stress much about water temperature.
Omega 3 deficiency has been implicated in sperm damage. Studies r ongoing. And should be supplemented. But again - won't probably reverse the varicocele.

When I had my sonography 5-6 months ago, radiologists said that I had a vericocele (at left side) and just recommended me to wear a supporter.
But whenever I run, it starts paining under my right testis. It happens whenever I go for a fast walk or a run.
So I am not understanding anything what to do.

Can surgery take away the varicocle completely n enhance your chances of giving birth?
Surgery or embolization can take away the varicocele. If the varicocele is the cause of bad semen parameters, they will improve. If despite varicocele cure on doppler the semen has not improved that means that it's already too late or there r other causes of low semen counts. And in that case, assisted reproductive techniques maybe necessary.
@@DrGauravGangwani Thank You so much..I have done several test and the results shows I have azoospermia as a result of varicocele...the doctor prescribed some medications such spenam and some antibiotics...After which I went for another test and still came out with the same results...He prescribed another medication called ADYZOA and I took it for two months but still the same results. Now I am planning on having the surgery as the last resort..

Studies r controversial on that topic. Some say it has no effect. Some say it's beneficial. Some say it's harmful. Anything in moderation and at a frequency is ok.

sir ,please solve my doubt.I am 21 year old boy, there is swelling in the vains of my left testis ,i consulted my urologist and he suggested colour doppler ... the doppler was done in supine position not in standing position..and the result comes NORMAL but even now feel swelling in vas deferens in sitting position and standing position, and increased temprature of left testis, some time left testis feel havier .
I HAVE HISTORY OF --epididymis orchitis ( sweeling of vas deferens occur from this time)
Oh. Seems more like inflammation- epididymo orchitis by history. But better take a second opinion and always best to repeat a good quality ultrasound or doppler.

Ideally u should give up lifting weights now and after surgery too. But there r ways of strengthening core first, then isolating muscles without pressure transmitting to abdomen or pelvis and with scrotal support and expert guidance.
I had varicocele since i was 15. Underwent ultrasound and it mentioned varicocele grade 2. Urologist told me nothing to worry about it .
Now im about to turn 18 in 3 months and went to the same urologist and he said that i have varicocele grade 4 only through observation.

Doctor, I had a microscopic varicocele surgery in late Feb or early March this year. Sometimes I'd get very dull pain but it would always go back to normal. 4-5 days ago, while in gym, I was deadlifting and suddenly pain started to reoccur but this time at a higher magnitude and I feel like my varicocele has re-occured too. Right varicocele doesn't cause cancer. But right varicocele is relatively uncommon. So when it's there, we would always do investigations to check the cause. If there is a lesion or mass or lymph node causing it. But that's not always the case. And primary right or bilateral varicocele does exist.

1) if it's varicocele then before you plan exercise or anything else, first show an Interventional Radiologist or Urologist. And get evaluated for the grade etc.
2) I wouldn't recommend Crunches or sit ups etc as they would have direct pressure on lower belly and cause worsening of vaircocele.

Sagging testicles are usually a normal part of ageing. Varicocele can lead to Sagging of testicles as a body response to get colder environment. But maybe your left testicle is going retracting back up, that's why this is so. Show the surgeon and get a sonography confirmation .
