Celebrity Tattletales Ep 1 (part one)

Here's the first episode of Celebrity Tattletales that aired on Channel Seven (Australia) at 6pm Monday to Friday in 1980. Hosted by Ugly Dave Gray, contestants include Wings band member Steve Holley and his wife Sharon, Australian football legend Lou Richards and his wife Edna, and Australian boxing champion Rocky Gattellari and his wife Millie.

This show was based on an American show of an almost similar name, but without the word "celebrity" in the title. It first started airing in the US on CBS daytime in February 1974 with host Bert Convy. The original run would last until March 1978. A weekly syndicated version aired from September 1977 to September 1978. Convy would be back with a new version on CBS daytime in January 1982. This one would last until June 1984.

Later on in the year they replaced it with an extra hour of their newscast (6.00pm) known as "Seven Sydney News" anchored by Steve Lieberman.

The American Tattletales with Bert Convy wasn't exactly a multi-million dollar production, but this seems to have been recorded with a potato and an audience brought in off the street!

@@debrak8521 I feel like the Australian "Match Game" knockoff with the "Cyril" host had potential to grow. The key is to get together a bunch of people who know each other and can play off each other. Without that, you have disasters like the U.K. version of "Impractical Jokers" and, err, this.
