  • Exploring the abandoned NHS Newcastle general hospital northern centre for cancer treatment building.
    BRIEF HISTORY OF LOCATION:
The hospital was designed by the Newcastle architect Septimus Oswald and was officially opened on 7 December 1870 by Thomas Ridley, Chairman of the Board of Guardians. By the beginning of the first World War, much development of the site had taken place providing about 500 beds in 5 buildings.
The General Hospital closed in 2010, with most of its services having moved to the Royal Victoria Infirmary and the Freeman Hospital in a shake-up of the city's healthcare provision.
Welcome to the northern decay channel, in today’s video join us for part three of exploring the Newcastle general hospital. This section of the hospital that we were exploring had been shut down the longest in contrast to other parts of the site, with the last patients to ever be treated in December 2010.
This part of the hospital was very decayed in some parts yet very well preserved in others with a mismatch of different buildings all from different eras which made for an all round fascinating explore.
We found the clinical incinerators, industrial medical sterilisers, countless surgery rooms, orthopaedic surgery rooms, isolation units, patient isolation machines, intensive care unit and so many more crazy things all just left behind.
We had to sneak through active wards of the hospital in order to gain access into the derelict section as seen at the beginning of the video, safe to say it was pretty tense and required the perfect timing.
This site is riddled with asbestos and has 24hour security with dogs so enter at your own risk!
If you’re a fan of Urbex and you like what you see please like the video and subscribe to the channel to stay tuned in!
REMINDER: We do not force entry into any of these places. We only use access points available to us on the day and if there is none, we leave the site how it was to conserve it. If we get in, we do not vandalise anything.

Thanks for the information that’s cool to know. Was good to see parts of the hospital that normal people don’t get to see.

In my other video of the general hospital we found some of what I Believe to be brain/organ tissue samples/microscope slides im not sure if they’re from a human or animal if you could let me know what they are and what they’re from that would be interesting. It’s at 12 minutes 30 seconds into the video.
