"Is not what we voted" " We have been sold down the river" "I have fish now but I can't export anything to EU" "Nobody told us about a ban on shellfish":) the last one was well known by UK Gov once he voted for it as EU member state to be imposed to all the third countries which meanwhile UK became!:) But Hey! The fishermen have been sold out by the Torys just like they were sold out by the Torys in 1973. UK will keep the same percentage of fish. EU will decide the total amount of fist taken and UK will be consulted by the EU. So much about taking back control of fishing from EU.

If only from Ted Heath onwards, if only successive British governments cared a crap about the fishing industry, and the big British fishing companies/families cared about the boats under 10m...but no. You'all listened to farage & hoey. Rings a bit hollow now all those vacuous promises because now our EU market is badly effected for fish and shellfish. My local harbour catches mostly shellfish, predominantly Whelks for overseas markets. Still, with JRM on the case, I hope he can dig out some new markets for these quality catches. Sadly he is incompetent at anything other than protecting his own interests.

A good example of propaganda ignoring many basic facts:
    - the CFP is based on the reality that fish are a shared resource that does not recognise artificial borders.
    - it was the UK Government that organised the restructuration of the industry favouring ever larger boats rather than reserving quota for more sustainable fisheries
    - it was British fishermen who sold their quotas to Spanish owners
    - British fishermen were responsible for the over fishing that destroyed stocks in home waters long before the CFP
    - most of UK waters are Scottish.
    - none of the English waters ( except a tiny strip off the Scilly Isles) actually reach the 200 mile limit.
    - UK governments have shaped the CFP over the years
    - UK fishermen do not sell to UK consumers!

Someone tell theses fishermen they don’t know what they voted for. How could our own government let this happen.
