Man I love your videos, wish you guys weren't so mean to mike tho, you could just teach him how to fish. I don't know mike in person and I know a lot gets edited out of all of your videos, so I can't say that you are wrong for treating him the way you do. Also I'm not sure why your channel hasn't blown up, your name is badass, you guys know what you are doing and get super hyped for these fish. My favorite part of this video is when the captain showed the rig and what and how he's throwing it out there. If you were more descriptive on how to catch the fish and what you are feeling, what to do in certain scenarios, a couple tips here and there i know I'd appreciate it haha. My pops is telling me that chartering a yacht nowadays can cost thousands.. Not been in so many years. Back around '90 we took the Marathon Lady out and I think he said it was like 75 bucks, that's a party boat though.. Hey, I want to buy an affordable, portable, surf fishing setup for small and medium sized fish in SoCal beaches. I was looking at a 9' Penn Fierce 2 6000 combo. Also, should I go for 40lb PowerPro braid with a 40lb Mono leader, or should I go straight mono? I'm trying my best to save money. Also recommend me a hook size for this kind of fishing. Thanks!

AlmostAlive you're probably not gonna be catching too many big fish most anglers I know in so Cal use smaller reals and 10-20 pound line at most. Unless you are goin for sand sharks which might get a tad bigger

Shadowwave228 catch smaller fish with live bait(shrimp). Cut it in half or chunks , get it out into 6-10 feet of water depth. You'll get one , just be ready

Shadowwave228 josh has a vid on rigging shark baits. I use 2ft steel cable. And have 8oz pyramid weight on its own leader that's about 6inches long. Make sure you tape your casting finger and tighten your drag before you cast, that braid can cut deep.
