    I find it funny that when people say "movies" they mean adult or family movies, and you should say "movies for children". Whereas with cartoons it's the other way around, you have to specify "cartoon for adults"

      My favorite cartoons are "cartoons for adults and kids" :)

    Funny timing, Veggie Tales was my childhood but I just watched Blue Eye Samurai and really enjoyed it.

    I haven't seen a lot of adult animated TV, but I just feel like that adult animation tends to lean way too much on the sex and violence jokes and things that are considered inappropriate by the general public. I mean, just because a certain cartoon is for adults only doesn't necessarily mean that it needs to have sex and violence jokes and inappropriate things. Heck, I believe that adult animation has a lot more potential than how it was in the past. It can explore various real life experiences and other topics and stuff like that, but it doesn't have to lean way to hard on the sex and violence and inappropriate jokes. I also believe that adult animation can explore so many various art forms and styles that audiences will definitely fall in love. Well, this isn't to say that shows like Family Guy and South Park are utter garbage. I'm just saying that adult animation has so much more potential than all the crass and vulgar sex and violence jokes like how it was in the past. But if they need sex and violence references for various contexts and purposes, then that's fine with me. I'm just saying that adult animation should learn to expand outside of the sex and violence tropes. I mean, as I have said before, just because something is for adults doesn't necessarily mean it needs to have crass and vulgar jokes to make it look adult. I just think that the animation industry needs to start redefining what "adult animation" really is.
    Edit: As uncomfortable as I could get about the sex and violence and inappropriate tropes, I believe that adult animation has a lot more potential than those tropes. I believe that adult animation can encourage individual creative freedom and finding new art styles and animation styles and finding diverse stories and all that instead of being controlled by the corporate companies who believes that adult animation must stick to the sex and violence tropes.

      Though I wonder how we can change or at least explore adult animation more. I mean my question is why does something have to be edgy or morally grey to be adult like positive messages are “childish” like I don’t get that. Why does adult animation have to take its self so seriously that it’s always hyper violence and dark topics as if that s the only thing to talk about or desired by adults. I know ghibli is a cough out but the way in some films they handle topics or its attention to detail to the beautiful mundane really connects with me more as an adult. Idk just my two cents.

      @@flowerbloom5782I guess maybe we can learn from anime. I don’t know how to say this but maybe anime as a whole can show what adult animation can be. I think maybe we just need to take more risks and find out. Idk

    I like adult animation...but sometimes they overcompensate with so much sexual stuff. It's like they have an "adult” meter they have to hit. I actually find that to be childish.

      yeah when you give people the ability to do something that they previously couldn't, they tend to overuse it.

    • @Drstrange3000

      It is ironic isn't it.
      I remember moving away from "kid" shows and was so refreshing seeing some actual violence and other adult elements.
      After a while I noticed a lot of adult shows seemed to go to the other extreme and it really did like they were overcompensating trying to be "mature." The constant swearing, and cynical deaths just felt unneeded.
      I think Arcane did it very well. It felt very mature while not being overindulgent. I also been flocking to more slice of life shows (mostly in anime) with adult themes. Stuff like Aggrestsuko and The Way of the Househusband come to mind. I also think the newly released Pokémon Concierge would fit too.

    For your internal reel - the one that you sent to Netflix - are you allowed to use NDA work that you did in your latest job for Netflix?

    • @TonikoPantoja
      @TonikoPantoja  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      most recruiters in major studios are (and should) be respectful of NDAs. Most of them understand its crucial for finding work. That's why you see password protected portfolios from artists .
