  • Visiting TODAY in person, former President George W. Bush talks to Hoda Kotb about immigration. “The system really needs to be reformed and fixed,” he says, calling for “an asylum system that is more robust” and changes to work visas. “It’s an easy issue to frighten some of the electorate,” he says, calling the current Republican party “isolationist, protectionist and to a certain extent, nativist.” He also discusses the Jan. 6 siege of the Capitol: “I felt ill … but I was optimistic that we would survive that.” Regarding the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan, he says he’s “deeply concerned about the plight of women and girls in that country.” He also reveals why many of his paintings are of U.S. veterans and immigrants.

George W Bush had reasonable and moderate ideas about immigration as president. As a governor of a border state, he had perspective on this matter that many other politicians often lack. He was just in the wrong party to get his ideas pushed forward, though.

Bush never was a 'war criminal' just someone who made some key mistakes -esp. in regards to the counsel given him in terms of starting a war with Iraq and the difficulty of making Iraq 'stable' after the war. While he was president, I thought that times and feelings in this country were far better than they have been since (Obama and Trump) and that Bush was and still is uber-genuine, patriotic, and sincere and God-fearing -notwithstanding his mistakes and shortcomings.
To say that he is a 'war criminal' suggests to me that he had 'consciously-sinister' intentions and didn't care for human life. There is absolutely nothing, to me, that suggests that he was ever or still is like that. He comes across to me as someone who has a strong conscience and is very pro-American...

I am too. It won't be allowed, through threat of war... it has already been tried. Unless the federal government falls or we somehow elect an entire replacement federal government that is intent on doing so, it can't happen. But I would like to secede... California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Colorado... and Hawaii, with the offer to allow them to choose to take back their stolen sovereignty if they prefer it... and Alaska if they want it, though I'm not sure they would. The rest of the nation can find its own way of splitting themselves. Perhaps New England, New York, and the rust belt, including as far west as Illinois and Minnesota and as far south as Maryland (w/DC). The rest of the country can unite behind Texas. Three nations... and I think those groupings would find far more in common than what we have today. I know we in the west would immediately be better off.

Trump has never tasked anything in his life. It's easy to play pretend POTUS when you don't have to actually get anything done and can blame Congress. He sure did manage to get those tax cuts, though... right? What about the second tax cuts he promised for the rest of America? Remember that promise... over and over leading up to the mid-terms? And then NOTHING. What about his big beautiful plan for health care, cheaper, better... the most perfect plan ever -- that he could never show us? What about that NAFTA replacement that was basically the same as NAFTA? What about his plan for infrastructure that was basically just an infrastructure week that lasted four years? He never presented America with any actual policies to get behind. He just said "I know everything better than everyone... I'm the best at everything... I will fix everything" and proceeded to pull the wool over your eyes again and again. But sure... he got those tax cuts for his buddies. He did say you'd get tired of winning. Maybe that's why he stopped trying... he was just tired... or maybe it was all that golfing.

This is to praise Pres. George W. Bush. I made a comment on the TH-cam video of an Egyptian singer by the name of Abdul Halim Hafith, a popular Egyptian singer not involved with Jamal Absul Nasser who waged a war against Israel: The 1960s in Egypt were similar like most places where there was freedom, but things changed later when Gamal Abdul Nasser wanted to unite all Arabian countries under his leadership. Nasser was going to be another Hitler, but the Israelis had him assassinated, because ultimately Nasser wanted to attack Israel. Later, other efforts were made by Saddam Hussein also when he wanted to follow in Nasser's footsteps. And it was President George W. Bush that smashed the efforts of Saddam Hussein of becoming another dictator, but President George W. Bush had the Iraqi highest court (like their supreme court) to judge Saddam Hussein, and without knowing it, President George W. Bush was pleasantly surprised when the Iraqi court sentenced Saddam Hussein to be hanged by the neck until dead, because that's Islamic Law -- Victor Isaac Alexander
