Yes, the time will come, so far we still don't have one, we will be getting one as we exit the med this year.. I honestly don't know how we have lasted this long lol
GDay from Canberra Australia! You guys are us 2yrs in the future... as we’re a couple looking for a 45’ mono to cruise with AND we have a German Shepherd too 🥰
Nice Videos you guys make! Welcome to Europe! Came across your channel watching SV Delos. Keep up your good stuff...and enjoy Europe. Will send you an email shortly...
RedTagGuy thank you! Europe has been amazing so far! We are currently in Montenegro, looking forward to putting the videos together as the footage of some of these places is amazing!
Great channel so far. I noticed you added a link to your anchor chain so you could add more chain. How do you find it goes through the windlass? Do you think it will hold up over time and not become a weak spot for possible breakage? We want to add more chain to our 120 feet and debating on a link like this or just ordering all new chain.
Hello! Honest opinion we wouldn’t suggest it 😆 the link went rusty within the first 6 month, it has no problem going through the windlass but we don’t trust it. We very very rarely (unless we have absolutely no choice) go past the link. Ryan has even gone so far as tying dyneema rope around it as a backup.
Did you mark that chane you should paint a couple links every 10 feet so you can keep track of how much you got out it helps it you paint a deferent color every 10 ft
The chain connection you where installing at the beginning of this video is absolutely wrong. In all the years of owning a boatyard I would never rely on that type of connection. It is definitely a weakness in the links of the chain. Have you had the engine raw water pump serviced?
yes, that link is rusted already.. I figured that I would just replace that link each year. its not often I drop more than 50m of chain as we anchor in 4-6m depth. No not yet, all on the list this winter!
Never trust those links, especially for a main ground tackle. Your main tackle should be bullet proof. Trust me - you will be tested in the med. You should be fine with 50m of chain although at least 70m is ideal. I have yet to use more than 40m and I have been in bad storms. Get yourself a better anchor. Beware any anchors that need to be assembled or any connections as they are weak points. Most of us use rocnas. Also be careful with the flex panels on the bimini. There have been a number of fires because there is no air flow between the fabric and panel and the heat plus hot weather. And think about adding a deck hole to collect water tied into your water tanks so when it rains you can fill up your tanks.
You guys aren't married yet? You've been together for 6 years in Australia, you own and live together on a sailboat, and you're not married yet? Why not? Man-up, Ryan! Sheesh!
@@SailingSunday Well, they say the easiest way to build wealth in life is to get married. They also say the easiest way to keep wealth, is to stay married.

Jackson loving the beach ❤
Haha yes he loves the beach!!
You all are awesomely!!!!
Any plans for a Dodger? You're going to need one once you start blue water sailing. It'll help keep the wind and salt spray out of the cockpit.

@@SailingSunday thanks for the reply! We probably won’t add the link then. Thanks for the advice 😀

yes we marked it every 10 meters but the markings eventually wash away or break off so sometimes we lose count of how much chain is out...
Parabéns gatinha e obrigado voce e maravilosa

what would you suggest instead of that link? I guess the only option is a whole new chain isn't it?
