That's so funny... the FIRST thing I did when I decided to try coding (keep in mind im not a coder, all Ive ever done is HTML back in the early 2000s) was make a portable YT downloader that allows you to select .mp3 or .mp4 format. Works on any computer I give it to. Used claude 3.
it only succeeded because there exist zillions of working examples on GitHub and you could have easily grabbed one from there. try something it doesn't have 1000's of fully functional examples of and watch it fall on its face
It works with any programming language. I've used it to complete some personal projects. Regarding API usage, I'll say it depends on what you're building.
20:54 David - you should make a video on this. GPT4o wrote a script for me and the API call was outdated. It had me upgrade, downgrade, all three different changes and none of them worked because the training data was out of date. In your video “break” the AI, by having it write a script that will not terminal successfully. Then share “updated information” with the model. Then rerun the script and bam it works! I look forward to watching this video from you soon ;)
This is funny because I actually took Dorian’s Maestro framework and built it into this Claude engineer 🤣 Weird how we came full circle! This is awesome
Over the past couple of years, I feel like I’ve been an outlier because of my support for Claude over ChatGPT. However, with the release of Sonnet, my preference has been completely justified. With Sonnet, Claude’s ability to code has gotten to the next level. The only reason I use other models for coding is to compare their code against the code Claude generates, and most of the time what the other models generate are works of pure fiction. I’m working on a solution for identity management, and quite frequently I use Claude for either information about technologies, or to generate code snippets to give me a push in the right direction. Instead of “taking over” my coding, Claude frees me to be more creative: I can use the code he generates as a starting point, which allows me to focus on architecture.
I tried using Claude Engineer to perform a web scraping but it could not come up with a functional script. I would love to be able to see Claude Engineer performing such task.
7:17 that rumor is no rumor. That sounds like some kind of real-time vector-database browser, being able to see the decision-tree throughout the vector database unfold in "real-time" and/or capable of recording and replaying the exact steps and cloud thoughts its producing throughout the process.
also openai's user experience kinda sucks compared to anthropics like the code runs in the chat also when you paste stuff it pastes it in plain text no a nice lil icon
My biggest issue with Claude is it forgets instructions. I am leaning to code and have to constantly ask it to not provide code snippets, provide full code only and it forgets every other message unless i add to the chat "NO SNIPPETS"
@@DavidOndrej It does not work. I have added my requirements to the system prompt. It sill responds with snippets regularly. it also addresses issues I did not ask it to address, breaks code that was working, but fails to address the actual issue. It has been very frustrating. But much faster than leaning to code.
@@DavidOndrej The problem is that when you go and pay even for the $5 in the anthropic api site they start to ask you to fill up detail of the company you work in and there is no option just to pay for the api key as personal user just as developer who want to test the Claude api.
I launched 3 projucts in an hour this weekend: a fretboard visualizer, a new portfolio "handcrafted", and a tool to take screenshots. This is awesome. How do you know if the changes you're making to the prompting is good or not? I'd love to connect on Discord if you have somthing going.
I beg to differ: with computers and with the internet we had a life changing jump comparable to what we have now with the AI? You forgot about being able to google and read about any subject matter? That has to count for something in terms of developing some intelligence; that is up to social media, after that the bell curve started descending again.
i'm so bad i can't even follow the instruction and also tried to make chatgpt help me but i failed. i installed mingw64 cloned claude-engineer and i got stuck, i cannot pip install inside mingw64.... maybe i miss something.
Looks great good video but Why oh Why don't you just say make a streamlet app as an interface for the engineer it would look so much better in 2 minutes happy coding
You should run this in a sandbox since an AI mistake coukd leak your data or kill your OS etc, intentionally or not. Unless you fully understand and review the code its generating, you could be one generation away from disaster.
You need to pay the claude api fees but the engineer app itself is free. I'm trying out claude dev at the minute and its excellent but expensive on api calls

Python and html/java.

David and Pietro rocking together!!! I love that you do!
Claude Engineer is a game-changer! 🤖💡 I've been using it for a few days now, and it has already brought me so much value.
How and for what are you using engineer? Python? Etc? I am wondering how many tokens its uses for tasks, no one ever shows a token counter.
@@KS-tj6fc depends on complexity. I think you could probably build in agentops to track it? I got daily rate limited tonight for a build..

Yes, Claude Sonnet 3.5 is the best model for coding today
This is funny because I actually took Dorian’s Maestro framework and built it into this Claude engineer 🤣

I need pointers for this, how did you integrate Maestro framework into Claude Engineer?
great video thank you! I am not a coder I am fascinated by AI and I fully intend to continue with your channel I will be joining soon!
Nice clean code in the repo.
always love his interviews.
Amazing. My own personal AI Skynet Developer Kit. ❤❤❤
The UI is very nice! crewAI need to do the same!

Alright I've finally got time to watch and yes this tool seems amazing. Thanks for the hard work.
Very impressive and inspiring, thank you for sharing

thats a hard use case where the answer cant be pulled from stack overflow so these AIs wont be able to do it.
Claude AI (not engineer, just the LLM) built me a simple web based scraper in seconds.

Don't have access to a Claude API key here in EU.
I have it and I'm in italy
hmmm--- how is asking for code already in Github 'coding'?

Ive been making a kiosk style app for my tablet. Ive never made an app or used android studio before. Shit it wild 😂

Does it keep your files and code private?
What makes this better than cursor which you can use 4o entirely free?
You very quickly run into usage restrictions on the free version
