Tara, the posture/confidence tip was perfect for Jamiah. I even noticed that she put a couple of stylistic vocal growls in there the second time around ❤️ I thought for sure you were going to comment on it cause you always point that kind of stuff out 😂 You could absolutely hear the confidence in her voice. She sounded good the first round (even with her nerves kicking in), and great the second round. Love this series 😘

I really felt her anxiety when she first started! I had the same shakiness when I sang for the first time at church camp even though I mentally was trying so hard to control it, but my heart was pounding so hard that it was audible in my voice. It was weird.
But, I definitely think she improved with more control after she tried your tips.

She sounded much more powerful after the slight adjustment in her posture and how she enunciate some of the lyrics for emphasis. Hallelujah!
I started working professionally in music at age 12.... No nervousness, no problem... But b/c I grew up seeing ppl crying and delivered just from songs at church, I felt a huge pressure to create the same effect when I sang..... One day with my hands trembling singing at a church, God reminded me of the Scripture "Perfect love casts out fear"...... and in that moment, my mind & spirit understood that since God is Love, and He is with me, I have NO reason to fear...... My entire approach shifted to a position of power and God-given authority, realizing God was NOT the one giving me that fear so nothing should impede expressing what I felt about God thru song.... I was about 19 by then and I haven't had fear while singing gospel since then.... Ended up singing gospel internationally actually and at the White House in 2012 #ObamaEra.... So all the best to you young Lady.... May His love cast out ALL fear. #faithoverfear

Even when I sing karaoke at home. There’s something about the microphone that makes me self conscious. Even though I’m alone! Any tips for some kind of mental block? I feel like it’s just cause I can hear my own voice amplified and I’m anticipating the mess up.

Maybe try watching vocal coaches here on TH-cam and see what you can improve. Mess ups are great! You can only learn from them and you see what could be improved on your technique. And if you keep practicing the confidence comes with it. It's like learning to play an instrument. The more you play it and the more you are familiar with it, the better you'll feel doing it. I always like when I make mistakes because they lead to improvement. 😊
